βThe right for queer people to gather openly to be boring and discuss sandwiches is as fundamental to me as the right to dress as a horse and get ridden in a sex dungeonβ - being boring is OK. Last share for this one, was lovely to be on paper at the weekend: observer.co.uk/style/featur...

The hidden history of Britainβs fight for queer rights
Several new books explore the LGBTQ+ lives and narratives that have all too oftenΒ been ignored
For The Observer, Iβve written about growing up under the shadow of Section 28, bi erasure, and the role of the Bishopsgate Instituteβs archive informing new books on LGBT+ history that offer resistance and lessons in our own increasingly intolerant times

The NHS has now stopped all medication - puberty blockers and hormones - for trans minors. For most, unless they get drugs from other sources, this means a lifetime, in an increasingly violent and transphobic society, unable to pass. Under Wes Streeting NHS policy is harm and death for trans people.

Donate to Help Rebuild Ceceβs Salon After Devastating Fire, organized by Callum Henry
Yesterday we were celebrating something special. Ceceβs had just marked β¦ Callum Henry needs your support for Help Rebuild Ceceβs Salon After Devastating Fire
Like many others, my wee sister lost her business in yesterday's fire on Union Street. If anyone is willing to donate, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated. She's devastated and just celebrated the 4th anniversary of her salon on Saturday as well.

Hey y'all - it's #InternationalWomensDay, so I thought I'd just take a moment to promote my site as I'm really proud of the work that I've been doing there. I've been falling in love with writing again & I'd be grateful if you checked it out: from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io

Fort Apache - John Ford (1948)
The Sound Barrier - David Lean (1952)
Archie Stout and Jack Hildyard shot FORT APACHE (1948) for John Ford and THE SOUND BARRIER (1952) for David Lean respectively. Both monochrome films, they are at times eye-wateringly beautiful. The cinematographers both used infrared film to exaggerate contrast, making skies ultra-dramatic. #FilmSky

On International Womenβs Day a reminder that my Alice had a mother and a sister and grannies, aunts, girl friends and girl cousins.
They all loved her as a woman.
When the transphobes say they speak for all women and are protecting women and girls, they are wrong.
