Nova (an anthropomorphic cat) holding a large ice cream cone with two scoops, vanilla on top and chocolate on the bottom. He smiles and sticks out his tongue.

hii good mornyan
welcome to the club lmao
also this one is purely optional, but you can use calloc for this instead; basically it does a malloc (witht the necessary checks) and then sets every single byte of the freshly allocated memory to zero (which saves you from the hassle of having to set everything to NULL yourself)
thats pretty good, one tip i'd give tho is to make early returns, aka return as soon as something goes wrong so your entire init logic doesn't live in an if statement
i mean, stdout has gotta be useful sometimes

The pause menu screen. The top left corner of the screen has a list of options; Item, Skill, Equip, Status, Formation, Options, Save, and Quit. The top right corner shows the player's money count. It is currently at zero. Poor The bottom of the screen shows four characters in a row, along with gauge bars for their Health and Action Points.
The battle screen. It is currently Nova's turn, as indicated by a portrait of him on the left side of the screen. This changed depending on whose turn it is. The left side of the screen has a list of battle options; Attack, Skill, Boost, Guard, and Item. The cursor is on Skill. The battle takes place in a first-person view, with icons at the bottom of the screen representing the fighters in your party. In the middle of the screen is a monster.
The game is a first-person dungeon crawler, inspired by the likes of Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei. The player navigates various labyrinths in a 3D environment. The player is currently in a dark forest and surrounded by trees. There are many more different labyrinths in the game to explore, and they will get more visually diverse as the game goes on.
