One of the Brothers in our house here in Finistère, a former teacher missionary in Senegal, Frère Adolphe(!), was nicknamed “Mr. Fredricksen” by the 6th formers I took to Senegal in 2010 for his resemblance to the “Up!” character.
One film neither Simon nor Mark mentioned in relation to Jack (this time, at least) is the extraordinary Eden Lake. Jack is terrific in it, but the final sequence is up there with The Mist (which I love) as one of the all-time bleakest endings on film. E. Lake is brilliantly, gut-punchingly bleak.
Of course, The Damned United, but I’ve a real soft spot for SixtySix.
