Right now access to genAI is cheap because it's running on venture capital money. Eventually they'll have to cover their (insane) hardware, energy and water costs, plus the promised returns on investment, and there's no credible pathway to that kind of revenue beyond "trust me, bro".
I'm pretty sanguine about genAI despite the doomerism.
- Individuals who offload their thinking to LLMs are deskilling themselves, and will fall behind individuals who don't.
- Companies who replace human workers with LLMs are deskilling themselves, and will fall behind companies that don't.
