a mutual of mine has a filipino artist registry! it has a wide variety of artists on it, you can also apply if you wanna be on it :D khimhpl.com/FILIPINO-ART...
he's actually the one of the only ones I know of haha! I was more interested in seeing indigenous artists that portray indigenous cultures directly but it seems like its kinda rare online... it's more common in gallery art from what I've seen π₯²
are there any Indigenous Filipino artists on hereβ¦ please let me know Iβd love to see more indigenous art π₯Ήπ
A grid of three images, with two on top and one across the bottom, all depicting queer Filipino people. Top-left: two women are about to kiss, dressed in soft white and orange, one of which is wearing more masculine traditional clothing. Top-right: two Igorot warriors are kissing in front of a brightly lit sky, a rainbow framing the top of the image. Both wear traditional Indigenous clothing styles. Bottom: two characters, one transmasc and one transfemme, stand in front of a mirror together, their reflections showing their desired gender presentations as they try on different clothing styles. Another character sits nearby, watching them, while also casually holding a rifle as they plan a revolution.
From queer revolutionaries to Indigenous warriors, hereβs a sneak peek into the Filipino queer history celebrated in the "We've Always Been Here" zine! π΅π

Cropped digital illustration by inkythoughts art for the We've Always Been Here Zine that both are credited on the bottom right corner as a watermark. The foreground shows a vase with white lilies, symbolising lesbians in East-Asia, standing on a small table that also holds a binyeo (hair pin) and garakji (two rings), both signs of married women in the Joseon period. The midground features a married couple in Joseon-era hanbok with the wife leaning down to kiss her partner on the cheek, cradling their head tenderly. Her partner is dressed in men's clothing and hairdo with a light pink and blue colour scheme in reference to the trans flag while she is in women's attire in yellow and red, referencing the lesbian flag. They sit in front of a cosmetics chest with a mirror that shows two both in women's attire embracing each other and the leaning wife still happily kissing the other on the cheek. The chest stands in front of an open window showing the silhouette of trees against a sunset sky.

An open spread of the front and back covers of the book. On the right side is the front cover, where two masculine characters lean against each other, with a yellow burst of light highlighting their hands that hold each other. The title reads, "We've Always Been Here." On the back cover, another couple dances in front of a barn where a man plays the fiddle. The Metis flag hangs on the top of the barn. A text box on the back with gold decoration reads: "Weβve Always Been Here is a collaborative art book with over 50 artists illustrating scenes of queer joy throughout history, all across the world. This is a mock-up of the full cover design (illustrated by Nightgalen) and this back text is subject to change. Our Kickstarter launches March 3! In a time of rising queerphobia and erasure, this zine aims to bring hope and joy to the LGBTQ+ community, and reminds us that weβve always been here, and always will be."
