One thing I learned covering high school sports is that there are so many different ways to spell names. I didn’t think had that many different spellings.

I forget the term but there's a specific word for parodies that outlive the thing they're parodying (or imitiating). Foghorn Leghorn survived long beyond Senator Claghorn. Much of Alice in Wonderland is parodies of Victorian children's lit.
