Itβs always disappointing to finish a book, where it wasnβt terrible enough to stop reading mid-book, but once youβve finished, it was decidedly not good.

i wonder how much he donates to like ANY human rights organization
"if not me who else will?!"
aka basically just being power hungry with cognitive dissonance?
and yes, I do feel comfortable personally calling him out on this, he is "Head of AI Systems" at Palantir. The buck goes no further, he chose to take that role (and not just knowing Trump was going to be President, but *because* of Trump's election). I hold him personally accountable for Palantir AI
It's very easy for people who aren't personally at as much risk from surveillance overreach, white supremacy, and misogyny to believe they can fix things from the inside or that the sacrifices are worth it.
Therefore, I can't put faith in principles of people in the majority to protect minorities.
Matt Welsh Head of AI Systems at Palantir 4h Returning from an overseas deployment supporting advanced technology development for the armed forces (and, yes, being somewhat vague), I'm reflecting on how my work at Palantir may be the most meaningful thing I've done in my career. I just... can't any more.
well... if fascism means we can all get tormented even harder better faster and stronger then i guess it'll do for now
speedrunning life (i.e. dying inside faster?) is the only idea these people have apparently and it's pretty sad honestly.
Software and technology in general is political because everything is political.

Another reminder to never use sticker mule.
very aspect of life in this country is designed so that people do not form bonds or relationships with other people, it's wild to watch in action. Never seen divide and conquer applied this rigorously to a domestic population that is not under foreign occupation
Hey all, sorry to say this, as I think I have well-intentioned friends who signed, but this "declaration" means nothing. Because Steve Bannon signed it, and he wants my family dead. So if you can sign along side him? At best, you got played. He's the "humanity in control". humanstatement.org
It is. This is such a bizarre reaction. They didn't turn over files or emails or anything like that. It's payment data. If you use a payment method that's attached to your name, of course the business record is going to reflect your name. That's why they offer anonymous methods.
Even if they did so in compliance with all laws and the Term of Service, this will bite Proton hard. Their sales is you can trust them and accounts are private.
On a practical level however, a reminder for email as a service that canβt be true.

I think the hate comes from a very understandable place of people not wanting anything to do with it because of the devastation itβs having on the public, the economy, and more. It isnβt being treated as a tool, itβs being exalted as a panacea, but with none of the evidence.
"Stripping anonymity from the internet would constitute one of the most sweeping rollbacks of civil rights in recent history. It would allow for unprecedented levels of mass surveillance and censorship, endangering the most marginalized members of society."
Human rights? Who needs those? "Think of the children" gone too far. This is the thing actively scaring me the most at which brake neck pace it's developing and no push back from media or regular day people :S

371 security/ privacy academics, including a Turing Award winner, just issued a letter saying age verification laws are building global surveillance infrastructure. Every search, message, and article read would require ID verification.

I started actively switching products by going from Chrome to Vivaldi in Feb 2025. I had already mostly replaced Windows with NixOS for my gaming, and before even that I went from Plex to Jellyfin. In October I signed up to Jottacloud [β¦]

1. In yesterday's primary elections, anti-transgender Democrats found out the hard way why you don't throw transgender people under the bus.
Two anti-trans dems lost their primaries, including one that cast the deciding veto override vote, in blowouts.
