I'm always happy to watch the latest month's compilation of trail cam clips from the outskirts of #Eugene. Bears, owls, sometimes mountain lions. Last month there was a raccoon who rolled all the slime off a banana slug and then stripped it down and ate the innards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ9Q...

Yikes. I do have a good indoor air filter, as well, but yes the vent for the dryer uses water to catch the lint. Good call.
Just ordered: compact portable washer (hooks to the faucet) and dryer (indoor vent filter). Excited to do laundry as it fills the machine, instead of finding two hours for the laundromat/folding/hanging to dry when I have nothing clean left. Also looking forward to shrinking my wardrobe accordingly.

Yes! Or tiny house subdivisions with a range of sizes, like 200 to 900 sq. ft. on smaller lots, so you still get green space but more houses for the total amount of land.
Totally went down the Oregon housing rabbit hole today. Buying something > creating a co-op to buy something > finding land for a tiny house > plywood slab on grade technique (dubious) > passive tiny house plans > custom tiny houses > RV living > yurts. Welp, I'll continue to rent, I guess.

Agreed, The Chronicle is great. I'm not aware of any Grovers or Creswellites. I search every few days for more Oregonians and there are always more. 99% of those I follow are Oregonians, so that's a good place to look.

I'm reading a signed library copy of The Oregon Desert and there is a story about a smart old wild steer who taught the domesticated free-range cattle how to hide, and also broke up herds. Now I want the Pixar movie. He evaded capture for 14 years, despite being shot several times. Then he lost.

I used the Insomnia Coach app from the Dept of Veterans Affairs last fall after reading about it in the NY Times. The 5 weeks or so I did the program were hellish, because of sleep deprivation, but I've stuck to the habits it teaches and sleep well through the night 98% of the time now. It's free.
