Yes, this is what family is supposed to do for each other! When my FIL was still alive we got lots of surprised comments that we were living in a multi generational house, as if that wasn't the norm for most of human history.
They need to look up filial responsibility laws. Also, as Boomers age into needing elder care and this administration tries to shred every safety net, I fully expect more states will have to require laws to prevent older people from dying in the streets en masse.
