The JetKVM sitting on top of it (the little screen) is more powerful. An Apple Watch blows it out of the water entirely.

OpenAI is the only one trying to monetize ads in their AI results (so far), so normies using their service matters a lot to them. $200 million is nothing compared to the value of that.

I’d rather pick one than keep switching. Even if it’s my less preferred one. Tired of one weekend every spring being ruined.

The past 10 years have been awful.

Scientists also push a narrative that a normal person *can* help via things like citizen science. It's the most effusive and positive PR put out there, "high school students helps find 1000 supernovae," etc. Scientists should have boundaries but normal people getting involved is a *good* thing.

I dunno who decided that micro SD cards should always be sold with an SD card adapter but it's loooong past the time to stop. What a massive amount of waste.

I got Cursor about a year ago. Looking at my GitHub, I used it to create about 25 separate coding projects. That is a wild increase in productivity for me. From utilities to multiplayer games to home automation, it’s really been a great enabler.

Color me crazy, but if you have to remind people why humans studying field X is still important in the AI era, you’re probably not as important as you think.

The doom has come to pass. The Earth will warm by several degrees over the next century. There is no way it’s going to stop. We have shown we do not have the willpower to change.

Epstein files reveal deeper ties to scientists than previously known Latest batch of documents show researchers consulting the financier and sex offender on publications, visas and more.

I remember as a postdoc visiting a certain billionaire's house twice (not Epstein) to ostensibly help beg for money for various scientific endeavors. The visits made me sick to my stomach, but many top-level astronomers seemed to think it was a necessary evil.

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

Migrated my Plex server from Windows to Ubuntu today. Made super easy with Gemini, complete with a bunch of (verified working) tips to maximize performance. Now my media server transcodes 3x faster on the same hardware. Splendid.

I've seen some open source projects close their source to avoid being scraped by AI. If you are running a science project based on one of these packages, that's a pretty bad thing to be doing...scientific analysis that isn't open source shouldn't be trusted.

This is already happening with me & my friends: A few of us are building apps (games, prod tools, utilities) for the rest of the group’s private use. No worries about sharing personal data with some massive conglomerate. No excessive security bullshit. Minimal monthly costs. This is the future.

I think AI-assisted coding is gonna pull us back into the 90s where a few tech savvy folks in your friend group are going to be your goto people to set up tech services for your group. Rather than paying $10/month for some SAS, your buddy will vibe code that app for you for free.

Annual Calendar PDF Generator

I didn't like any of the annual calendar generators out there, so I made my own: astrocrash.net/calendar/

(I have a black and white printer and I wanted to add custom holidays)
