Extremely weird for Kelly's campaign to put rabid right wing blog Chicago Contrarian on her endorsements page - one week ago they ran a piece about policing on the CTA with the subhed "the legacy of Jesse Jackson makes all of us less safe" - and weirder still that they actually link out to it.

Mainstream Deep Tunnel at McCook Reservoir
Fun page to keep tabs on for days like today: NOAA has a river gauge *in the Deep Tunnel* so you can see how full it currently is. (NOAA claims combined sewer overflow events start to happen once it's above -100 feet or so.) water.noaa.gov/gauges/MCCI2

Unsurprisingly, I prefer a map. And since our wastewater and stormwater systems are combined in Chicago... Once reservoir levels hit 75%, we're likely gonna get poop dumped into our river.
So stop doing laundry or dishes or taking showers on super rainy days!

On March 5, state house Democrat’s political arm transferred $570,000 into Jaime Andrade’s campaign account.
That’s how scared they are of our people-powered movement.
Now is the time to join the movement: bit.ly/MiguelEvents (Linktree in bio)

After staffers at The TRiiBE unionized two weeks ago, one of their reporters was fired. The union believes she was terminated for union organizing, and are demanding that the member be reinstated and the union be voluntarily recognized.

I had the privilege of working alongside Corli a few years ago at City Bureau. Aside from being a joy to work with, she was also a tenacious reporter who always led with curiosity & an open mind. We need more reporters like her, especially now, and it’s disappointing @thetriibe.com doesn’t get that.

Corli Jay, The TRiiBE’s community investment reporter was terminated by TRiiBE leadership on March 9 alleging that she had broken nonexistent company ethics rules. We believe this is retaliation for organizing a union. One Triibe United demands the immediate reinstatement of our member and voluntary recognition of our union.

This is disappointing on the part of @thetriibe.com's leadership. Corli is an amazing reporter but frankly it wouldn't matter if she weren't.
Solidarity with @corli.thetriibe.com and all The TRiiBE staff who deserve their union and their jobs!

Simmons and Bushra are setting themselves up well for future races. Both are authentic and engaging, and the more people learn about them, the more they like them.
Some other candidates, not so much. #IL09

I get why people want to vote for Kelly because of Gaza. I think its a mistake because she will not win.
Senator Stratton would be more likely to pivot on the issue than a Senator Krishnamoorthi. And Stratton is a lot better on every other topic.
The right move is to vote Stratton & pressure her

Chicago Coalition Pushing for Special Prosecutor to Investigate ICE Crimes, Drawing Pushback From State’s Attorney
Attorneys with Loevy and Loevy say a “broad coalition” is set to make a public call for a special prosecutor after Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “terrorized” Cook County...
“O’Neill Burke in her statement pointed to a new protocol change she implemented last month that calls for the use of all available prosecutorial tools to support law enforcement investigations into the use of force by federal immigration officers.”

He's the first of the "ComEd Four" to be released.

Two people got abducted five days ago. ICE activity is on the rise. They're just doing it quieter, that doesn't mean they're gone. You are just being useful idiots for the fascists in power with this nonsense.

???
1) March isn't even halfway over yet.
2) ICE activity has been trickling upward since last week, with more sightings yesterday and already this morning.
This story just didn't need to be published? Maybe they'll surge and maybe they won't, but reporters offer no insight one way or the other.
