Honestly, mad respect for his posting it on the reddit thread himself. It takes a lot to stand up in that kind of storm and stand up for yourself. Not shirking from that kind of public lambasting can not have been the easy choice.

I suspect that the fact that these posters are 'blatantly AI generated garbage' is the whole point of them being posted. A sort of protest of the whole AI situation, and LL's tone-deaf refusal to 'read the room'.
Sitting literally at the king's throne of a virtual world, populated by artists and creatives of all types, they couldn't reach out to a single person, and not one person at Linden Lab could put on a gaming headset at hit 'record?' for a 3 minute how-to video?

I've seen the 'trial' ads they published on Facebook, and I'm shocked that *ANYONE* in corporate would allow such blatant lies and falsehoods to be seen by potential users.
But I'm also bothered by the bland and insipid 'informational videos' that they've released, both voiced AND scripted by AI.
While I'm bothered by stores using AI in their product images, I can just shop elsewhere.
My biggest concerns are with LL's blatant misrepresentation of "what SL is" when making advertisements and promotional materials using generative AI.

In 2006, it was a sandbox. Where I could build, and rez, and tinker with things. A "Home Base" I could return to easily, just by hitting [๐ ]
Modern SL takes this away, setting your home to an impersonal convention hall full of people you don't know, trying to tell you to spend L$10,000 on a body.
Yeah, those rear-caster "three wheel" designs are kind of amazing (and I know there's a double wheel version). We just wanted a rectangular 4-wheel footprint for 'predictable stability' reasons.
Today was spent working on the undercarriage. The rear-steering of real forklifts is an engineering marvel! The rear wheels are able to pivot nearly 170ยฐ, allowing for incredibly tight turns. Capturing that in ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ low-poly was a huge challenge.

You wouldn't mute "#SecondLife" in this example.. But let's say a certain business was constantly paying SL players to post using #FishingGame... you can mute that whole tag.
This is the setting as found in the Windows app.. mobile, mac, linux and other platforms may have different organization in the settings menu, but look for it!

I've tinkered with applying some seamless PBR metal materials to parts of it, and I really like the results, but the laser-sword building system I was working with/towards doesn't understand how to alpha a PBR.
So that's extra patch code I'll have to write. I'll get around to it one of these days.
The only problem comes when someone asks "hey, where did you get that?" and you have to explain that it's made out of 15 different freebies that they'll have to chase all over SL to find.

The real problem is when people make child avatars into Bots, or AI bots.. who don't know they've 'ooopsed' into a space they don't belong, and teleport out ASAP.
Remember that "A Child Avatar" is just another body, you wear it like you'd wear Reborn, or Jake, or a monkey avatar.
It's completely within SL's rules to be a child in General/Moderate places, change to an Adult av, then go to Adult places.
The system assumes if you wanted to access Adult Content, then you might be nude when you log in, so if the region you tried to log-into was down, it sends you to the Adult hub.
Region (any rating) you're trying to log in to is offline? Infohub.
GMA enabled in preferences? Adult Infohub.
The reason why you see them appear at the Adult telehubs is *NOT* because they were in an adult region that went down.
You get sent to an adult landing zone if your viewer preferences are set to allow your account to access Adult Content.
In 2025, Child-appearing Avatars are forbidden from going to Adult Rated regions. Infohub safe-landing-zones notwithstanding, they shouldn't have been in an adult region, with the child av on, when they logged off.
When you're in a region that goes offline, you get logged off.
I'm sure it will be well appreciated. I know they're still in the process of trying to locate a new space they can afford.. and then drum up the member numbers to be able to cover the monthlies.

Is there any point caring about content creation ethics in SL anymore? Linden is doing it now, too.
