A bit of today’s news, a bit of historical context to the story, a bit of answering @seanorr.bsky.social’s challenge to me earlier this week.

I *think* the story will recede now, but given the weirdness of it all, we’ll see!

1/ The initial response to the war is in: Canadians are not on side with the illegal US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Nearly half of us — including a supermajority of NDP and Liberal voters — are firmly opposed.

he said canada supports america's actions in iran, aka their illegal war. there is nothing forcing us to do that. just like we oppose their illegal and immoral blockade of cuba, we could oppose their illegal and immoral war on iran too.

this is just semantics. our prime minister saying canada supports it makes us part of it. we are legitimizing this illegal war.

carney saying he supports it makes us part of it, even if we are not directly participating. it’s complicity.

in fact, one could argue that canada not directly participating makes our support all the more pathetic.

2/ Canadians don’t want to be part of this axis of aggression and impunity, AI-targeted assassinations, and the blatant killing of civilians.

We want our country to be a voice for peace.

Canada condemns Iran's retaliatory attacks Justin Li Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said in a statement that Canada "strongly condemns the attacks of the Iranian regime against our partners in the Middle East." Anand further urged Canadians in Iran to shelter in place and said Ottawa will "provide all possible support to Canadians throughout the region." Canada currently has no diplomatic relations with Iran, nor does it have an embassy there.

The United States and Israel have the right to bomb and murder whoever they please.

The countries they attack have no right to fight back.

This is the exact double standard on international law Mark Carney was praised for calling out at Davos, but which he continues to participate in.

Worth noting that on a different website, multiple ABC Vancouver officials follow accounts that post constantly about how Sean Orr is a terrible human being and make all sorts of unproven claims, including one account that creates AI videos of Orr doing all sorts of illegal or evil acts

he has not endorsed emily lowan. the video you're using as "proof" is from a COPE (the vancouver municipal party that's not affiliated with any provincial or federal parties) event, not a BC green event. the "sea of greens" are a sea of COPE supporters. they just both happened to be there.
