Congratulations! That's so exciting, and it seems like there's lots happening at the Biden School. Much luck. :)

picture of a lactation room
Perhaps the most useful thing I've done as an academic: We got NPS to add 2 lactation rooms on campus (with more to come). Really proud of our students that we got this done.

How do indoor lemons work without a hive of bees buzzing about? We just moved from CA to the burbs of Chicago, and I miss my citrus trees.
Jen Cowhy is there right now!
Gah, I missed this, but I look forward to the all-Jennifer HDSP alumni panel, ideally with unique spellings of the names we actually go by.
Flying down to APPAM tomorrow -- see you there, team!

Can't do it, too busy leaving academia
That seems like a Twitter thing.
Hello #econsky! The application for @randcorporation.bsky.social's summer associate program (PhD student intern) is now open: www.rand.org/jobs/summer-...
It's a great opportunity to try out policy research with an eye towards postgrad plans. My 2 former summer associates are coauthors on our work!
โI simply wanted to save the family I found,โ James wrote in a statement released in November while he recovered in the hospital. โIf I had my way, I would shield everyone I could from the nonsensical acts of hate in the world, but I am only one person.โ

This is really helpful. Thank you! :)
Thanks! I'm leaving my current institution, and losing data access, in a couple of months, so typical econ turnaround is a bit late. Appreciate the link and the insight!
Hey #EconSky ๐๐, anybody have a list of econ/policy journals that accept short, fast turnaround papers?
I remember someone posting it on the other place...
I have a Google alert set up for specific keywords/journals...which goes to email. And which I have not opened since setting them in in grad school.
You have inspired me to turn off my 11-year-old Google alerts.
This highlights the importance of MTFs in providing care to the military population (and limits to substitution b/t military and civilian providers)
Been a great experience publishing in JAMA journals
Here we find service members use more mental health care when their local military treatment facility has high psychiatric capacity (vs those w/ low capacity)...even when moving b/t places w/ high civilian capacity jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
No do it here
Are direct messages a thing on here? I'm not immediately seeing it, so just send an email to my gmail (first initial + last name). I'd love to hear about your work - and if we don't end up chatting much luck on the job market! :)
Table listing industries by occupation
#EconSky ๐๐ Anybody have industry employment by occupation, ideally with SOC codes? Something like this but with all industries in an occupation (and, if I'm being really picky, long or wide not mashed together)?

Hey folks - I moved back to Chicagoland! I'm a Research Fellow at the Fed so downtown relatively frequently.
I'm also still a federal employee for the Navy, so it looks like I may have some free time soon if any grad students want to practice their job pitches (or just chat). #econsky
This is the wholesome content I've missed at that other place
๐๐k cool found #econsky but where are we discussing love is blind?
