The inside side of the arm has these pairs of fleshy spikes in addition to a single row of suckers at near one end of the arms. The vampire squid is dark red and you can see white dots on it which are photophores. There is marine snow around it.
Vampire squids (Vampyroteuthis infernalis) don't really live up to their name. They aren't squids, and they don't hunt, let alone suck blood.
But they are vampire-like in their longevity! They are thought to be able to live up to 10 years, longer than almost any other cephalopod!
