PSA: operating a bot that interacts with users on another user's behalf, without verifying that the recipient actually wants to receive interaction (eg following the sender) is like operating an open relay or open proxy. don't do it!

triply so if you're letting brand new users interact through you.

Curious about the latest set of additions to our blocklist that look like false positives? They're not!

The attackers are cloning established profiles after they're caught, to make it look like we're mistaken or malicious. You can vet us by finding identical profiles with different account ages -LF

Homepage - Lightning Broadband The fastest internetin Australia. That’s our goal. The fastest internet in Australia. That’s our goal. We’re Lightning Broadband, proud to partner with one of Australia’s largest privately-owned Fibre...

PSA: please remove 103.114.190.0/23 from your IP blocklists/denylists. It now belongs to a legitimate Australian ISP (lightningbroadband.com.au), and is no longer under the control of Flow Chemical Pty Ltd or any entity known by me to be associated with Joshua Moon or Kiwi Farms.

We have received no donations aside from in-kind donations from Slack, Google, and Github. Our legal fees are directly paid by @lizthegrey.com, and directors are paying printing, postage, and filing fees out of pocket without reimbursement.

Aside from legal fees, our expenditures are nominally $0.

There will be hundreds of posts on a fringe website claiming the opposite, causing an AI tool to shrug its shoulders and produce an outcome suggesting impropriety where there is none.

Needless to say, this is not great and I'm determined to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else.

These tools have no limitations on "use up to 100 data points from this one website", they treat all the 1000s of correlated data points as independent and give them heavy weight and credence as a majority of the information available rather than a fringe minority that is shrill and repeats itself.

In 2017 and 2018 Vincent Zhen and Flow Chemical worked together with MrΒ Joshua Moon to obtain some IP Blocks from APNIC. Some of the statements made to APNIC by Mr Moon may have misled APNIC.
Thereafter, the IP Blocks were used by Mr Moon to publish (amongst other things), Kiwi Farms, including defamatory comments concerning Liz Fong-Jones (the Defamatory Thread).
In April 2023, Ms Fong-Jones alleged that Mr Zhen and Flow Chemical were publishers of the Defamatory Thread under Australian defamation law and obtained a freezing order from the SCV over Flow Chemical’s assets, including the IP Blocks.
Shortly afterwards, she commenced defamation proceedings in the SCV against Mr Zhen and Flow Chemical for defamation, alleging that they were publishers of the Defamatory Thread.
In Oct 2023, after defendants failed to engage in the Court processes, the Court awarded Ms Fong-Jones $445k in damages.
In late 2024, that judgment was set aside on the basis that defendants wished to raise legal defences to the claim (which did not include any defence alleging the defamatory meanings were true), on the condition they pay into Court the sum of 128k for Ms Fong-Jones’ wasted costs. The parties’ legal positions were set out in submissions and other documents filed with the Court.
In early 2025, Ms Fong-Jones & defendants participated in a judicial mediation. At that mediation, they agreed to settle Ms Fong-Jones’ defamation claims.
The terms of the settlement are confidential, save that the parties acknowledge that the settlement involved the payment of a sum of money from the defendants to Ms Fong-Jones, as well as the provision of some documents relating to the issues in the proceeding, and undertakings.
Mr Zhen regrets having assisted Mr Moon, in ways which enabled the broader publication of the Defamatory Thread. He does not support the publication of the Defamatory Thread or any related attacks on Ms Fong-Jones and regrets the harm that these publications have caused her.

A year ago, Joshua Moon crowdfunded >150k USD into an IOLTA, ostensibly to fund plaintiff-side litigation on behalf of his website Kiwi Farms and its operating entity Lolcow LLC. Instead, he spent "a lot" of it to help Vincent Zhen set aside the 445k AUD default judgment for defamation in Australia.

To my friends:

After nearly two exhausting years of litigation, I have agreed to settle the defamation claim I brought against Vincent Zhen and Flow Chemical in the Supreme Court of Victoria. I will be able to share more when all the documents have been signed and exchanged.

This is a good thing.

Our 501(c)3 determination letter came through, so we can finally say that we are tax-exempt and eligible to receive charitable contributions (although our present financial needs are covered by @lizthegrey.com). You'll see the details updated in our bio as well.

Curious why our blocklist often shows as empty? It's because @safety.bsky.app is doing their job.

Suspended accounts are removed from the list, and sometimes removal-flagged but not yet fully suspended accounts cause list rendering to choke partway through displaying the list.

This is because Bluesky's Moderation team is very good at banning the accounts. When banned they drop off the list. -ACL

Just block them, and if you'd like to be helpful, privately report to your local labeller or blocklist operator (using the reporting or DM functionality) if they're not already appropriately tagged. -LF

Yes, there is now a false flag operation going on, it's by the same group of people operating the original KF bots, just keep blocking and reporting them. -LF

We saw the profile update go live in our monitoring at 12:45pm Pacific & internect found it at :47; moderately confident it's a false flag by the same party that was creating the 3... accounts with 7 characters in name previously that said "you are being watched" or "like = you're on the list". -LF

26.11.2024 21:04 πŸ‘ 11 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

We've now seen our first one, but believe they started using the OF name in response to @skysentry.bsky.social's thread rather than because it was happening before. Username is 3qhaghg similar to other accounts starting with 3... that were KF branded before. DID: did:plc:cgdonyyvdutfshmnnbeti2js -LF

You can always use the API or browser devtools to look at the list of returned accounts that come back via the REST API, but yeah, it's not great that blocklist contents are harder to audit and inspect for the moment. -LF

It chokes as soon as it encounters the first suspended account in the list, from most recently added to least, and then fails to show any further accounts. I know, it's painful and sucks! -LF
