A photo of yours-truly, leaning against my car, smiling. I’m wearing my bright red Puma track jacket, which matches my bright red 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback. Nineteen years since I bought it and it still makes me smile when I drive it. I love a car with good handling, and that’s long been one of Mazda’s strengths.
My car & I match today 🚗

The things I’ll teach ya is sure to beat ya

Uggh, I know... If you have an iPhone, there's a setting to change it so your photos export as more standardized file formats, jpg instead of heic, for example. (Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible, I think) Not sure how to do it on Android though, if that's what you use.
Wish I had 10, because I originally added Skyrim to the list, but then I realized I'd forgotten Sonic CD, which is my favorite platformer. Other honorable mentions: Katamari Damacy, Final Fantasy IX, Resident Evil 4, Tetris, Assassin's Creed: Origins & II, Fallout 3 & 4, other GTA games...
Here are my nine games (my9games.com) 🎮
A classic and very accurate to my feelings da share z0ne post (couldn't find it on Bluesky so I grabbed the Twitter post image) that sums up how I feel about WebP, WebM, Heic, etc... new formats. Here's the original ALT text from this post, by DASHAREZONE ADMIN: "I DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK A WEBP IS JUST GIVE ME A JPG MOTHER FUCKER - FUCK WEBP AND WEBM - DASHARE.ZONE ADMIN AND DA PIC IS A SKELTEON ANEGEL IN A CHURCH SCREAMEN BECAUSE A COMPUTER HAS DISRESPECTED THERE HOLY SOUL - DASHARE.ZONE ADMIN"
I apologize to @dasharez0ne.bsky.social (one of my favorite accounts!) for reposting one of their old Twitter posts to Bluesky, but I can't find it on here and it really sums up how I'm feeling about .webp starting to infest this site, like it has Reddit, and so many other places online.
I was watching the news this morning and they had a military pundit on who referred to the act of using torpedoes as "almost nostalgic" since they hadn't been used in so long. He was almost grinning about it while talking about all these people that got killed. Yuck.
A couple weeks back I started using my heating pad at my desk when lower back pain flared up. That's better now, but I've still been using it, since after my surgery I run a little cold these days.
The downside: It makes me fall asleep at my desk. A lot!

Thank you! That was the second book I worked on, way back in 2009. (Please excuse my nascent lettering skills!)
I'm working on another Maruo book later this year btw, also for Last Gasp :-)
logging on
I know that feeling. I have a "pile of shame" of unplayed games for the past few systems, and at this point I don't think I'll be getting around to many of them anytime soon. I keep buying the ones I really want (mostly when on sale) bc some of them will likely be harder to get later. *sigh*
alright damn
Still feels weird to type stuff like this since I'm the same person who used to sink hundreds of hours into Skyrim, Fallout, GTA, and Assassin's Creed games. That was a different time, indeed.
Never enough free time to play long games anymore (when I do have time, I want to make stuff) & not enough money to buy the current-gen systems. Maybe I can play RE9 when I'm 75 years old...?
PS: Just found out RE8 had a 3rd-person mode too, but not in the base game?
I'm pretty checked out of video game news these days (lack of time/money), so I just learned there was a Resident Evil 9 last week. Glad to hear it has a third-person mode again. I get motion sickness from first-person games & was worried I'd never be able to play a Resident Evil game again.

I taught at eight schools around Nagasaki during the three years I was an ALT, but plucky little Shikimi Junior High, on a hillside overlooking the sea out in the countryside, was my favorite school to teach at. Small, so I got to know everyone, and everyone was so friendly. Really fond memories. 🙂
Back then I didn't know very much about Pokemon - just what I'd learned from my nephew - but I made sure to include my favorite one: Caterpie. Since then, I've learned a lot more, since my son's a Pokemaniac. Posted this on Facebook back then, but wanted to post it here for the 30ths anniversary.
A blackboard I decorated with various Pokemon characters, colorful stars, and school supplies, at the now-closed (due to population decline) Shikimi Jr High in Nagasaki Japan, in 2014, when I was working as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) via the JET Program. This class was a special-needs class with one student, Yūma, who was a Pokemon fan, so I drew as many Pokemon as I knew at the time (not many) as a greeting for him. There is Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and my favorite Pokemon, Caterpie.
I wanted to post a fond memory from 2014, when I was still teaching English in Japan. Along with the full-size classes, I had some smaller special needs classes I taught One had a single student in it, named Yūma. He loved Pokemon, so I decorated the blackboard for his first day of school.

PS: I just lettered what might be one of the saddest pages I've ever seen in a comic. 😢
I really hope you all read it when it comes out, and that tons of people who've never read it take a chance on it. It's of course sad, but also so beautiful and so important on a deeper human level.
I'll just finish this by saying that watching the new of US and Isreal attacking Iran really makes me feel like we as a species have learned NOTHING.
War only brings pain.
I'll post a lot more about it later, but I do have to say that I feel super lucky to be working on two titles of such historical importance at the same time: Barefoot Gen and Ashita no Joe. I've worked on some other Nakazawa stuff, and now I'm really in the thick of it!
I've been working hard on lettering & designing the new edition of Barefoot Gen & I'm depressed that the kind of people who would most benefit from reading it are the people who never will. It's a deeply sad tale of our shared humanity, but one would need a shred of humanity within to really get it.
You say you'd like a song that will always put you in a good mood? Here you go!

Haha, sorry, I didn't know this was a meme (I'm old! 👴)
I gotta listen to some more Charli XCX. I don't know much about her, but "Apple" gets stuck in my head a lot, and she worked with a Japanese music producer I love, so I'm getting curious!
