Just spotted a crocus in the garden.
All on its lonesome.
Spring is sprunging
I wandered lonly as a crocus

My RAF Veterans badge arrived today - YAY!
Day 3 of 30 of #EmilysNotebook 20min drawings course course. Half a Cabbage - at least you can tell it isn’t a cauliflower
Day 2 of a 20min drawings course. Vintage telephone - #EmilysNotebook course
Kept drawing circles instead of ellipses for the handle mouth piece
Thank you
Today was about getting over fear of a blank page, proportions, Drawing from outside in and drawing negative space to bring out the shapes.
Shall revisit in due course to complete pencil tonal drawing and then a watercolour. I’ll let this phase of the course finish first.
Ok trying to get back into the swing of things. I can’t draw so taking a basic drawing course. Here is day 1 with a contour drawing of a satsuma in pencil. Added a little shading to delineate some of the outline.
Don’t laugh, I’ll get there!
#Emilysnotebook.

Visited Batsford Arboretum on Thursday. The autumn colours were wonderful. Posting for you to enjoy and give permission for any artist to make use of images should they like to paint trees. Posts posts to come
No Ellen I haven’t tried it yet
It was quite lovely and abundant this year
Very nice too Edo. Definitely items to be treasured
I’ll be getting into the book more over the coming weeks. In it he did say he saw Treasures painting displayed in the window of the exhibition gallery and knew straight away he had to buy it.
He beat me to it by a few decades 👍😉
Haha thank you again Ellen. I like to think I have an appreciative eye.
When it comes to ‘doing’ I’m afraid I’m a continual beginner. After receiving this book I’ll be beginning again but from Step 2 now 😉
Yes I’ve briefly seen that section Edo. The whole book is wonderful. The Trevor Chamberlsin and Seago articles appear worth the money alone. A bit disappointed there is no mention of James Fletcher Watson nor Ray Campbell Smith but then I’d miss out on Treasure and others.
My iPad camera doesn’t do them any justice especially one by Douglas Treasure - how the colours mesh and meld together is terrific and what you can’t see is how he handled the boat reflection in the pool of water. The darks lighter and the light darker. Subtle touch
Caught you from Twitter
Rekindled my enthusiasm to pick up the brushes again.
I think it is a book you would enjoy.
Hi Ellen thank you. Progress is being made. Back at Hosp tomorrow for outpatients check-up.
Our turn here for a heat wave.
Hope all is ok with you and yours.
P.s. just posted about a Ron Ranson book on watercolour Impressionism and artists. It is marvellous and has rekindled my…cont’d
I have heard it said that watercolour is at its best at its most simplified, well, you can’t get much simpler than this and it is wonderful. Looks easy but takes a genius to pull it off.
My photo doesn’t do it justice, but on the published page it looks wonderful!
This Ron Ranson book on Watercolour Impressionists arrived in the post today. It is utterly marvellous and has rekindled my desire to paint again. I hadn’t heard of Douglas Treasure before but his paintings are marvellous I particularly like the simplicity in this beached boat scene?…..Cont’d
Hello Ellen. Things are much better thank you but not yet 100%
Thank you Edo the past few weeks have been rather fraught to say the least
