A little Prince Wren art. π
A little Prince Wren art. π
Illustration of Mikayla Keyes, the main character in the novel Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. The image shows a head and shoulders illustration of a young woman with curly, long, honey blonde hair. Her hair is loose and swept to the right. She has green eyes, a soft, cream complexion and green eyes. She wears a thick, burnt orange sweated with a high, thick collar. She is looking to the side with a slightly mischievous look in her eyes. She holds a chocolate covered strawberry up in one hand and has a small scroll tucked in a lock of her hair. The foreground is filled with a pile of chocolate chip cookies and the background has a cluster of off white, toadstool mushrooms.
Looking for a sassy, chaotic, act first think later witch to brighten your day and steal a Fae Prince's True Name? Mikayla Keyes is your lady!
Maybe I need a burner account just to comment "it's AI" everywhere. π
Because, never mind the weird telltale slow motion walk camera zoom thingy they all have going on... the faces are the SAME.
I can tell it's AI by the generic, perfect, Main Character face before anything else even happens.
Anyways. Rant over. π«
So... do people not know that the book trailers and character art they're praising as AMAZING is AI?
Cause I keep seeing it and it's upsetting, but I'm a non confrontational person and can't bring myself to leave the "It's AI" comment, but
Do they not know? Or do they not care?
A little sketch session for the ever chaotic, always sassy, frequently scrambling to keep up with her own, not-at-all-thought-out plans, Mikayla Keyes
Slow burn Romantasy anyone?

Where the writing magic happens!
I've got my fidgets, my ghostie friends, a pin board with a random assortment of *things*.
Sadly, the pen on my Kamvas display stopped working a few months back and now it's just a weirdly angled third screen. π

Yikes. Did you put your entire hand down on a hot stove plate?
I did that with three of my fingers once. π©
Nooooooo
A rough sketch of Mikayla Keyes, the main protagonist from the book Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. Mikayla is standing with one hand on her hip, looking off to the side and smiling. She has big eyes, freckles and long, curly hair. She is wearing a strappy, summer dress.
A little nighttime sketching of our impulsive, snarky, get sh!t done hero, Mikayla Keyes.

Now that I am settled in a suburb that I love, I will absolutely be expanding my collection of physical books again. Stay tuned for updates.
I have moved a lot in my life. Towns, states, countries, you name it. And books being the heavy, space taking chonkers that they are, did not fit in particularly well with my life choices.
Most of the books I own are ebooks and most of my reading is done on my phone.βΊοΈ

A photo from a page of the book Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. The page details a scene in which Mikayla Keyes is trying hard to fight her attraction to Prince Wren, while Prince Wren helps her button up her dress.
A photo of the cover of the book Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. The book is resting on a cloth of peach/pink sequins. The book cover is purple with the silhouettes of dark branches covered in thick white thorns framing the picture. The bottom of the image is framed by mushrooms. A scroll rests in the branches on the top left of the cover. A gold ring with a leaf design rests on the bottom right. The background has a scattering of magic glow.
Calling all lovers of the slow burn!

Saying goodbye to this cute little nonsense today.
Bert is exceptionally good at being a cat, and he will fill his forever home with lots of love, big purrs and too many naughty antics to count!

Mikayla doesnβt have the power to defeat a warlock, and neither does her family. When it comes to the dark dealings of a warlock, no witch can win.
But the fae can, and if Mikayla seduces one of them into surrendering their True Name, she can use them to defeat the warlock and bring her sister home
*AVAILABLE NOW WHERE BOOKS ARE SOLD*
When a warlock abducts her sister, Mikayla Keyes does what any loving sibling would do; she steps into a mushroom circle and gets trapped in Faerie.

In case anyone was wondering, I am pretty terrible at aesthetic book photos/videos. π

A bit too "Disney". Both things that Lies that Bind are not. Both things that my art style always seems to gravitate towards.
Nevertheless, here he is.
Maybe I'll work on making him less "cute". Maybe I'll give in and colour him instead. :)

A sketch of the character Prince Wrendall Locke from the novel Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. It is a 3/4 sketch of a man, standing with his arms crossed. The sleeves of his shirt are rolled up passed the elbows. The man has antelope ears and horns. He is looking to the side and has a slight smirk to his expression.
A sketch of the serious, yet sweet Prince Wrendall Locke from my debut novel Lies that bind.
I've hesitated to share this one because I'm not entirely *happy* with he turned out. I like the sketch, as a sketch, but I don't fully like it for Lies that Bind.
Why? It feels a little bit too cute.
An Excerpt from the book Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. "I search the room, expecting to see Wren, but of course he isn't here. And why would be be? Did I really expect a fae prince to be waiting at my bedside, concern running deep creases in his perfect fae face? Yes, I did. Proof, once again, that I am an idiot."
An ereader showing the cover of Lies that Bind by Amanda Acton. The cover is purple, with silhouettes of branches and thick white thorns framing the edges. Mushrooms frame the bottom edge. A gold ring with a leaf design is in the bottom right of the image. A scroll is caught in the branches on the top left of the image. Above the ereader are the words "Available now" Below the ereader are the logos from amazon, kobo and google play books.

And the Libby/overdrive catalogue!
So you can request it from your library. Go go gooooo! π
Thems just regular sugar cookies. :)
And I went wide. So it's wherever books are! Except the smaller niche places I don't know about.
But Amazon, Kobo, google, iTunes, bookstores if you ask nicely. π
It is a launch party in the sense that my book has launched today and I have book themed cookies.
It is not a launch party in the sense that I am not leaving my house or inviting anyone who doesn't live here. π
