When US Senator, Henry Cabot Lodge, advocated for the annexation of the French islands of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon - Beyond the yellow journalism illustrated below, the islands were never truly interested in being taken over.

Oh thank you for not mentioning the Magdalen Islands (sorry friends…)
Who is Senator Henry Cabot Lodge you ask? He's the notorious US Senator who wished America would acquire the French islands of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
I'm extremely thankful he never succeeded.

Enfin ! Je ne suis plus le seul Saint-Pierrais ou Miquelonnais sur BlueSky. Bienvenue @raphael-llorca.bsky.social
Anachronism? We were here before Canada was a country, before Québec or Montréal were founded, and we're still here and not going anywhere, despite Canada's many attempts at taking us over (1941) or breaking us (1992).
Hey hey, could you not mention us please. Shhhhhh
Glad to know you're somewhere online! Another reason to come back to BlueSky.
Oh hi friend! Long time since I've seen you come across my social media. Hope all is well. Hello from St Pierre and Miquelon.

Les traités tiennent quand même ! Surtout qu'ils ont été reconduits par ceux de 1778 et de 1814/1815.

I don't usually read the London Gazette, but when I do, it's with a cup of Earl Grey and some biscuits.
This concerns the village of Miquelon (600 inhabitants), not Saint-Pierre.
Great article Sara, thank you !
And he made it. S11E03.
Yes, that map is very famous in SPM yet it is very much incomplete as the hundreds of shipwrecks from the 1500s to 1816 are not all known, inventoried or located.

No passport required for Canadians. Proof of citizenship and ID are sufficient. No it's not "your" St Lawrence. The islands have been settled by French since the XVI century, and our immediate neighbour was a British Dominion until 1947.
