My client batting average on the instructions, “Please sign, date, and return BOTH pages of the power of attorney” is alarmingly low.

Now that filing season is over, I guess I can delete all these photos of tax documents from my phone.

I think my client believes the filing deadline is end of month. Bless him. 😆

I am sure there is a lot of commonality among different PM platforms, but we've been pleased with TaxDome. We added Soraban this filing season for document collection, and that has been a home run.
OASDI = Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance
Which one are you on?
Maybe we could have this conversation about the merits of the tax system in a week or two?

“I hope you are surviving tax season. Here are five paragraphs of topics I would like to discuss at your earliest convenience.”

Speaking of Michael Lewis books, how has Sam Bankman-Fried not been pardoned and hired by this administration yet?
Alabama-only issue and I’m not convinced Alabama would know what to do with a superseding return.
No fun!
It’s Alabama-only. I think if I filed a second state return without the amended box checked, the state government might shut down. ;)
Anyone on here enjoy filing an amended return one day after filing the original? Because I have one of those.
“Hey, did I send you this?”
“No sir, you did not.”

War Eagle!
Working on my return this morning. Our family could use a better accountant.

I was just asked by a former client if I remembered a gift tax return that I prepared for his mother in 2012 when I worked at my previous firm.
God bless him - I couldn’t tell you what I had for lunch yesterday.

Me: The return has been in the portal for 2 weeks. Will you please review and sign?
C: I’ve been very busy.
Me: Is that so?

“You left off the federal tax payment I didn’t tell you about.”

If there are legit questions about the accuracy of the K-1, no problem. If you’re trying to score points with your client by pointing out that distributions were less than taxable income, that is what I take issue with. Especially this time of year.
Agree. This one hit wrong because the accountant’s question was, “Why is the income more than the distributions?”
I mean, c’mon.
Please, I am begging you, don’t be the accountant that calls another accountant with “I have questions about this K-1 you prepared for my client”.

Client: Do you remember we talked about…?
Me: No.

“Hey, did you see the email that I messaged you about, TaxDome chatted you about, Soraban chatted you about, left you a voicemail about, carrier pigeoned you about, pony expressed you about…?”

Me: I need the depreciation schedule.
Former Accountant: I think you’ll find what you need on the prior year 4562.
Me: [head explodes]

I, too, warn of tax season delays (not unlike every other year.) #taxsky
I’ve sent no less than a half dozen emails on #BOI over the last 6 months, and yet I still got the “What is this BOI thing I’m just now hearing about?” email.

Done all that plus different browsers, different computers, different internet. It’s a known issue not affecting everyone. I’m logged in under my associate’s credentials - she was unaffected.
I cannot log in to QBO. Tech support suggested I try again tomorrow. Lord, is this a test?

When I (eventually) retire, I won’t miss asking, “Did retained earnings roll forward correctly?” in response to “The Schedule L doesn’t balance and I checked everything!”
It doesn’t get any more #taxsky than this post.
Yes. Started doing that last year. To my surprise, no client pushback at all.
