While I don't like some of these fetishes, I would NEVER restrict someone else from partaking in it as long as it's harmless. That's all there is to it, just don't get involved and it won't affect you. No need to actively hunt it down and kill it for everyone else.

Frankly, it is. It's iconic and deserves respect and, dare I say, reverence.

The problem with this argument is that it's "genres don't exist & words have no meaning, because I don't like it."

It has a general consensus of meaning as a genre among the larger population. Its use carries consistent expectation. It's not your scene. "Cozy" doesn't comfort you. And that's fine.

Every game is on the game's terms. There is no singular template that is cozy with nothing else fitting, merely trends based on the most common psychological responses. And if "cozy" style games don't comfort you... that's okay.

"There's no one perfect sauce, only multiple perfect sauces."

How it is used can help determine how stressful it is. Long enough timers, such as dailies, can help push players to explore more functions, like camp/home-building and decorating, and experiencing the world.

And pixel graphics can still present soft shape language. It's all in how it's used.

Or they did it there on purpose to get a legal battle to garner attention, waste advocates' money, and eventually force a Supreme Court decision.

"Smooth Shape Language" refers to the graphics: primary & exceeding use of rounded shapes, & minimization of sharp/pointy edges.

"Low-Stress" is both low-stakes &, usually, low-difficulty.

Pace is also typically slow, & often makes use of timers to discourage hyperfocus & encourage creativity.

Konsi the goblin in the form of a marketable cute plushie. She is very rounded and squeezable. The plushie's shape resembles the makeship plushies of Honey the Goblin from the artist honeygoblin.

For the sake of communicating clearly, it's probably better to distinguish between "cozy" games (which are broadly soothing and low-stress by design, and tend to use smooth shape languages), and "comfort" games (which the individual finds soothing regardless of design intent).
