Otters rompant.
@duncanbatey
is allegedly a gracefully ageing rocker whose life was demolished in a freak meditation accident back when he was a computer scientist but also very definitely a singer-songwriter and t'ai-chi enthusiast based in Glastonbury, UK duncanbatey.bandcamp.com
Otters rompant.
*sigh*
A romp of 'em.
"Hearing a word is not enough for our brains to fully βencodeβ it into our memory. We need time to processβeven if itβs fractions of a second. When words are being hurled past your ears at double speed, thereβs no room for your inner thoughts."

Hmm, still unsure of that one. Research ongoing.

The one that seems to have come to define me is "Ok. Anything for a weird life..."
This whole thread is bliss. So many favourites are here, so I'll share one I havenβt seen mentioned, from Last Chance to See:
I miss Douglas Adams.

Hardly seems worth it really.
Applicable in SO many situations!
Ah, now I do remember it, because I think you shared the link before!
Reminds me of that quote from John Shelby Spong, where he compared the church to a swimming pool, "most of the noise is at the shallow end"
Thanks Ali. They sent a few videos of flames, smoke, and missile trails and interceptions in the skies above their district in the first couple of days, which was... alarming. The kids were freaking out but nephew & wife seemed calm. Hopefully attacks will decline and/or they can leave.
They've signed up with the Foreign Office for updates on possible evacuation, but there's nothing doing so far. Airspace closed.

This. Yes.
Every damn chance you get. It matters more than we know a lot of the time.
And we donβt hear the good stuff enough, quite frankly.
And the people who routinely do this for you? They should hear it too.
So thatβs that, right? We donβt have to put up with endless drivel about how expensive it is to save the planet abd ourselves ever again? Cool.
I still think about this a lot.
Ohhh, that's lush!

Hi de hi Ali! I'm ok thanks, if somewhat discombobulated by a weird day and night, so taking things gently. It's actually a beautiful clear blue if chilly day here, I've done all my breathwork and tai chi, bought fresh bread, walked round the Abbey, and smiled at people. So far so good! How's you?
<Ali joins the chat>
Yes, the humane responses I'm seeing all round are heartening. It's a weirdly bonding experience. But yeah - the horror, the horror. I like to think I'm usually quite good at rising above it, but my youngest nephew lives in Doha with his wife and two littl'uns, and... eek.

That's TONIGHT in Glasgow. A city in which a guy stopped me in the street and said it was great to see a new Scottish comedian on Mock the Week. And I smiled and gave him a thumbs up.
<waving>
We've come to a pretty pass when we look back and Maggie and Ronnie, and even George and George W., seem relatively sane. Check this out:

No, I don't think I've come across that. What is?
That is perverse.
