When you #KeepCaptionsHuman, you keep creativity human.

We could have made it better for them and it'd look nice for us hearing too, and it helps people with hard of focus and ADHD. It's a win-win. But no, they chose to sacrifice an actually useful feature in favor of something rarely anyone actually use due to it's inconsistencies and fatal flaws.

For people excusing this removal:
"Deaf people will still get the classic SRT format subtitles, what's the harm in that?"

The harm is that you'd make the watching experience overall terrible on top of what they're living through. You don't realize this if you normally had captions off.

Above are the few examples as to why SRV3/YTT has a technical advantages that goes beyond just something that adds features. I'm sick and tired of the gold rush of AI at the expense of what was basic abilities we once had. This enshittification needs to stop.

In removing the ability to animate positioning, you'd also be removing the freedom of expression through animating texts anywhere on the screen.

By removing karaoke styling in subtitles, you'd make watching music videos a worse experience, and making pacing lyrics (if reverted to srt and other traditional formats) far worse for hard working subtitlers.

By removing the ability to set position to the subtitle, you'd get texts IN THE WAY OF EXISTING BURNED IN TEXTS. This is a major problem with Android users where font sizes are overridden by the Android system and has an opaque background by default.

By removing the ability to color code subtitles, you can't efficiently denote who's talking without adding a "NAME:" to EVERY LINE.

Think of it like giving my irl room a cleanup and revamp, but in my NAS (I'll be cleaning up my room IRL too because Lunar New Year is approaching too >.<).

I figured I should just add archive server makeover into the agenda too XD So yea, the stream hiatus will see yet another few months of delays >.<

Tho the makeover serves to declutter what's in my archive NAS in it's entirety and hopefully optimize the stuff I have set up for other purposes.
