Yeah that wouldn’t be easy either. It is heavy (about 40 lbs), the handles digs into your hand, and sloshing water would compound the difficulty.
I was thinking of 5 gal bucket because that’s (kind of) portable. If we’re talking about drums … ooof. We’d need people to have water troughs outside on the street to extinguish these canisters of tear gas.

Of course if I were the only person doing this, it is a pretty useless task as ICE just sends more than one person can deal with. Also, a 5 gallon bucket of water is cumbersome and wouldn’t be feasible.

As for picking it up, could also use a metal grabber like used to adjust burning logs in a fireplace. Of course ICE may claim it is a weapon and shoot you. So there is always that.

So I guess tear gas cans do get hot. So wear I’d wear Ove Gloves which I regularly use to handle my hot pizza stone (550 F) without an issue.
How can one neutralize a can of tear gas? Do they get hot? Can one just put it into a trash bag? Or maybe submerge it into a bucket of water? Thinking of some way to just remove it from the scene because throwing it back just makes them throw it back again. Better to just put it out.
