What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.

A long hall extending off into the distance. The dark wooden doorframes disappear into themselves, far in the distance the doors are beginning to close in sequence. A flash of light illuminates the scene. Upside down in the midground V1 stands with its shotgun raised at the viewer, wings and blue metal catching the flash of light.
