I stood there accusingly, not looking at her.

The morally correct answer to the trolley problem is to design better safety into the public transport infrastructure so that people are not getting trapped on the tracks in such high numbers.

How to publicize your event online:
β€’Tell them what it is; don't assume they already know.
β€’Tell them when it is, where it is, who is it for.
β€’Put the info in searchable text, not just in an image.
β€’Provide a live, direct link to more info.
β€’Repeat, because not everyone saw it the 1st or 2nd time

Before the U.S military seemingly blew up a girls elementary school in Iran killing dozens of children, the Trump administration got rid of a civilian protection program designed to avoid just this kind of incident.

I have my "story engine." It's a podcast drama about a '90s late-night paranormal radio talk show host β€” who uncovers the *real* secrets of the world, and gets a target painted on her back.

What are the "real secrets of the world?" ...Well...

That doesn’t sound like something I’d watch. :)

I already have the setup/structure for for this. As far as the plot conceits and primary characters go. I just need to make the β€œβ€˜mythos” for it.

This week I had an idea for a project that seems to be turning into "my X-Files." Which is interesting, because I have no interest in '90s style ufology, forteana, cryptids, ghost hunter-style ghosts, or any of the rest of it.

So the trick is: Figuring out an angle on all this that I *do* like!

And later, the R's will insist we can pay for the lost revenue by cutting more social services and also that we need more tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations to boost the economy. Argh

What does "surprise" have to do with anything? Whether we're "surprised" or not doesn't change the situation.

5/ And on the Strait of Hormuz, they had NO PLAN. I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the Strait, but suffice it say, right now, they don't know how to get it safely back open.

Which is unforgiveable, because this part of the disaster was 100% foreseeable.

4/ Ok, so what ARE the goals? It seems, primarily, destroying lots of missiles and boats and drone factories.

But the question that stumped them: what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?

They hinted at more bombing. Which is, of course, endless war.

3/ Second, they confirmed "regime change" is also NOT on the list. So, they are going to spend hundreds of billions of your taxpayer dollars, get a whole bunch of Americans killed, and a hardline regime - probably a MORE anti-American hardline regime - will still be in charge.

2/ Maybe the lead is that the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program. This is, uh...surprising...since Trump says over and over this is a key goal.

But then of course we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

1/ Here's what I can share:

In this construct, β€œredemption” means β€œgive a guy a break and shut up.” They don’t believe anything he’s done has actually harmed anyone or anything, so if anything, they’re upset anyone asks them to address it.

Maybe I'm just a total mark, but I'm VERY excited to hear that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christopher McQuarrie are making KING CONAN. I disagree with a lot of the choices made in Stone's CONAN script, I still love that movie SO MUCH.

Our local academic publishing house has a treat for everyone:
"The story that hatched Mothraβ€”available in English for the first time, translated by Jeffrey Angles, who wrote an afterword about the novella’s cultural context, the unusual story of its composition, and the development of the 1961 film"

most of my anger towards dems is they repeatedly invoke this trope and then do not govern, either in majority or minority, as if it was true. whereas i actually often do believe it and believe the responsibility to act like it’s true extends past the first week of november

i’d like for some people to grapple with the fact that β€œthe most important election of our lifetime,” if you actually mean it, implies that the governance period following it is also the most important governance period of our lifetime, and adjust their demands/expectations/behaviors accordingly

If you run like we're under mortal threat, you need to lose like we're under mortal threat, too. Throw your body on the gears. Cosplay the GOP rejecting everything just to make those in power look bad.

If you don't, do not come back to us in 2 years & tell us democracy is on the line.

We're nearly at corps monetizing "buy this new story from Stephen King!" And it's an AI agent story. If an author wants to license that, fine. But selling fan fiction is still technically illegal. Do coaching from public domain authors. Fine. But we'e living hand to mouth out here, and I'm tired

People who think this thread is an open invitation to defend AI books are going to learn that AI books are not the only thing about which they are sorely mistaken.

11.03.2026 00:08 πŸ‘ 281 πŸ” 8 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

I gotta tell you, long before the advent of AI, the expense of paying the writer was already, with very few exceptions, not a significant part of the cost equation. I think we’re just dealing with people who see the existence of humans as a problem to solve.
