I have my "story engine." It's a podcast drama about a '90s late-night paranormal radio talk show host — who uncovers the *real* secrets of the world, and gets a target painted on her back.

I already have the setup/structure for for this. As far as the plot conceits and primary characters go. I just need to make the “‘mythos” for it.

This week I had an idea for a project that seems to be turning into "my X-Files." Which is interesting, because I have no interest in '90s style ufology, forteana, cryptids, ghost hunter-style ghosts, or any of the rest of it.

So the trick is: Figuring out an angle on all this that I *do* like!

What does "surprise" have to do with anything? Whether we're "surprised" or not doesn't change the situation.

5/ And on the Strait of Hormuz, they had NO PLAN. I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the Strait, but suffice it say, right now, they don't know how to get it safely back open.

Which is unforgiveable, because this part of the disaster was 100% foreseeable.

4/ Ok, so what ARE the goals? It seems, primarily, destroying lots of missiles and boats and drone factories.

But the question that stumped them: what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?

They hinted at more bombing. Which is, of course, endless war.

3/ Second, they confirmed "regime change" is also NOT on the list. So, they are going to spend hundreds of billions of your taxpayer dollars, get a whole bunch of Americans killed, and a hardline regime - probably a MORE anti-American hardline regime - will still be in charge.

2/ Maybe the lead is that the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program. This is, uh...surprising...since Trump says over and over this is a key goal.

But then of course we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

In this construct, “redemption” means “give a guy a break and shut up.” They don’t believe anything he’s done has actually harmed anyone or anything, so if anything, they’re upset anyone asks them to address it.

Maybe I'm just a total mark, but I'm VERY excited to hear that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christopher McQuarrie are making KING CONAN. I disagree with a lot of the choices made in Stone's CONAN script, I still love that movie SO MUCH.

People who think this thread is an open invitation to defend AI books are going to learn that AI books are not the only thing about which they are sorely mistaken.

I gotta tell you, long before the advent of AI, the expense of paying the writer was already, with very few exceptions, not a significant part of the cost equation. I think we’re just dealing with people who see the existence of humans as a problem to solve.
