π Many thanks to my wonderful collaborators Aroosa, Cinthia, Fred, @LCincio, and @MvsCerezo. This was my first paper as senior (last) author, so it's an exciting milestone in my scientific career!

βοΈ By careful analytic study of error bounds and numerical simulation of noisy quantum sensors, we find that the cost of zero-noise extrapolation outweighs its benefits, and that pre-characterizing a quantum sensor with inference-based techniques leads to improved performance.
π― When performing a measurement with a quantum sensor, every shot counts. Naively, one might hope to overcome the effects of noise using e.g. error mitigation.
π«°However, we must be careful that any shot not directly used for sensing actually gives a metrological improvement.
Our work on error mitigation and learning-based inference techniques in quantum sensing has now been published in Materials Today Quantum! π₯³

It was a pleasure to present the second talk of Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning 2024 last week, kicking off a thought-provoking week discussing the latest developments and future directions in #QML. Huge thank you to the organizers, speakers and attendees who made it an amazing conference!
