Four students use their fingers and pencils to place 3 paper corners on top of a 90° angle. The corners have measurement of 45°
Two folded paper triangle on top of a right angle. The triangles are labeled with 90° and 45°
My students screamed when they realized there’s more than one way to find angle measurements! One of them shouted, “I didn’t know angles had it LIKE THAT!!” 😂 I love witnessing learners experience the joy and wonder of math….it will never get old. 🥹

Had such a wonderful time representing @mathedleaders.bsky.social VCMS this week. I felt right at home which is a testament to the community the VCMS board has fostered. I cannot speak more highly of the folks I met. Can’t wait for next year!
Love our @mathedleaders.bsky.social Southern 1 crew!!!!! Had a blast talking math with the coolest people around!!!
So excited for this! There is still time to register!!!
nctm asking, “Are you planning on attending the following activity?” followed by the session title in blue text: “Multiplying Success with The Math Pact: A Formula for Cohesive Instruction.” Below, details include “Session Type: Session,” “Fri, 10/17: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM,” “Location: Omni Hotel,” and “Role: Co-Speaker.”
My goal this year is to highlight the amazing leadership of the great Ts I know! Excited that my math coach’s first-ever proposal was accepted and my math partner teacher will join as a first-time attendee and co-presenter. Can’t wait for this experience!
Pls share your session deets for NCTM!
So proud of you!!!! This session looks 🔥

Tweet that says “This has got to be what they’re talking about when they say ‘girl math’.”
Also, don’t be this person 🤮
So yeah… schools ARE open, and despite the bad rep public schools often get, there are educators out there fostering mathematical literacy and, more importantly, creating a culture where mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities.
The note reads, “You have way more time to live, and why don’t you spend it with your family. You have 180 minutes.”
The note on the top sheet states, “2h 40m. They think that 40m and 2h is 240m. It is actually 160min.” The second note below it shows a breakdown: “2hr is 120 min” followed by “160 min” with an arrow pointing from “2hr 40.”
The note states, “2hr 40 min = 160 min” and “2hr 40 min ≠ 240 min.”
A stack of handwritten notes on paper, with the top two notes visible. The first note states, “they thought 100 minutes = 1 hour but its actually is 160 minutes,”. The second note reads, “they thought it was 240 min but it was 160 min and he had 80 min left,”.
So I showed my students and they had a discussion on understandable mistakes. They wanted to reply to help clarify their thinking:
from user @gagas reads: “doctor: you have 240 minutes to live. me:” followed by an image showing the runtime of the movie Wicked as “2h 40m”
A tweet that reads ‘open the schools’ with 3.4 thousand likes.
Saw this post this morning and went straight to the replies. While it’s likely satire, one of the most liked replies said, “open the schools.”
That tells me two things
1 Math mistakes aren’t always met with kindness.
2 Many folk outside of schools may not realize the great work happening inside them
Mexican yellow rice in a glass container.
Finally took the time to make Mexican rice and told my mom. This woman called me and asked me to tell her how I made it step by step. She blessed my process and asked me to send her a million photos. I love Mexican food and the people who lovingly pass down these 🔥 recipes.
Today we went over the metric system and as all my class asked: why can’t we just use the metric system, I thought about this 💎 of an SNL sketch:

Wild how some folx who claim they couldn’t *understand* what Kdot was saying can understand pop girlies singing lyrics in monosyllabic falsettos… 🤔
If anyone needs a lesson tomorrow, I made this real quick on Kendrick’s halftime performance. It’s going to be my Black Fact of the Day, because Black History isn’t just the past, it’s the present as well 🤎✊🏾
