It's tempting, isn't it? I don't have a huge following either but it might be worth asking if others are interested.

"She added it was "a deeply twisted version of true forgiveness, which should never put someone at increased risk of harm" and "by far the most effective and devastating way to control them" but was "still not talked about enough"."

I'm a lesbian who opposes men calling themselves lesbians. Sorry this bothers you.
No. Men calling themselves lesbians are homophobic, on the other hand. Hope this helps.
I'm not, no. I'm not aware of such a book club online - I remember one on Twitter which was based on STEM books, and there's FiLiA's lesbian book club, but that of course isn't strictly feminist as far as I know.
Hi Susan Sarandon, how's the whole revolution thing working out for you right now?
The incoherence is something else. "Of *course* TWAW, no decent woman would deny this, they have their own challenges that I'll talk about". Then they proceed to include transmen and NB people, completely undermining their claims. Women almost an afterthought while prioritising everyone else.
Yes, it's everywhere. I can't imagine how exhausting it is, especially if you play an individual sport.
Benefits of being on the men's team: "They don't have to worry about having the money or doing a fundraiser to get to a competition[...]
"[...] they are at the Paralympic Games and they have a World Championship... they get paid to play their sport each month."

That's true. I think I filter such books out as much as possible, but it's frustrating to see female authors apologise for focusing on sex rather than gender when analysing issues that affect us.
Interesting to see a data analysis of the problem. Judging by the comments under this article, we still have a long way to go.

What if these straight men, one of whom was a prolific abuser of girls and one of whom is accused of sexually harassing multiple women, were gay?
Thats satire, baby!
It's part of the reason I prefer non-fiction. Topics aren't going to be ruined by all this human messiness π
Having said that I'm about to start A Family Matter and I'm looking forward to it. I know it's a difficult subject but one important to our history.
It's all so strange. I'm reluctant to read books with lesbian characters that were written recently because of what I might come across. I also feel that the inclusion of "queer" characters is often forced and performative, rather than thoughtful and meaningful. It does nothing for the story.
Stunning work.

And Eve, the main character, behaved in a cruel, selfish way for far too long. As you put it so well, it's not someone I'd want to spend too much time with. I read mostly non-fiction, and the fiction I read is usually to escape for a bit. The TW bit just too much in the respect. No way back.
I felt the plot was not a bad one but the execution just didn't work for me. A lot of the characters were two-dimensional, caricatures and boring frankly, but that may be because I'm old now and don't tolerate things I used to π¬ I felt I had to suspend disbelief too often and the story was confused.
Good points. I really don't know about the author's intentions with her characters but many readers find them unlikeable. It was a promising beginning and many lesbians would've recognised the feelings of dealing with homophobia, including internalised homophobia, and betrayal, fear, etc.
Sorry, it was a bit of a random question. I don't know anyone who's read it but it's just won a prize so that might change.
Have you read A Family Matter by Claire Lynch? Next book after I've finished the Will Trent book I'm currently reading.

and then it absolutely doesnβt.

Nobody speaks for all women. The laws allows for discrimination when the rights of different groups clash.
I have never denied trans people face discrimination and violence, and I agree that they deserve protections.
At some point it would be nice if you all stopped misrepresenting us.
It's just meh at best, all so superficial with truly unlikeable characters. I don't think I'm a demanding reader, I'll read many things. It's very rare for me to have such a reaction.
I saw it recommended by several people and so thought it could be interesting. I really should learn my lesson because it's hardly the first time this has happened. The reviews I've seen so far are pretty positive and this confuses me. Maybe I'm getting old. The sex was literally one sentence.
Thank you.
Is this from today?
Morning all.

I've been wondering if it's meta in any way, which would make it more interesting and damning. I might do some digging.
