Figurines of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family fighting each other

I have created a diorama of the Partridge family attacking the Brady Bunch family. My life is very boring.

This is a huge factor in why our government is unresponsive to the public. If you want some evidence, check out my book (with Morgan, Kelly and Enns) πŸ˜€:

In this brief, @daniellaurison.bsky.social (@swarthmorecollege.bsky.social) writes that engaging low-income voters requires politicians and campaigns to invest in long-term connections, representative hiring, and making politics relevant to everyday life.

Why doesn’t one of our intrepid beltway journalists ask Trump if he was lying in June or he’s lying now?

The disaster that was Ted Carter's presidency at Ohio State is a complete self-own that reflects the dangers of what can happen when conservative ideologues start running a university. Carter has only a Bachelor's degree & was always grossly unqualified to even be thinking of leading an R1. 1/

If you asked the American public are you willing to pay $5 a gallon for gas to take out Iran’s nuclear capabilities (which we just took out in June πŸ€”) it would be 90-10 against.

This is not trueβ€”driver’s licenses aren’t acceptable under the SAVE Act without additional proof of citizenship. The fact that they keep doing this sleight of hand should make clear that the SAVE Act is not something that β€œevery American gets”

ACLU-Challenges-Book-Bans-and-Classroom-Censorship | ACLU American Civil Liberties Union Censorship efforts in Florida, Oklahoma, and beyond restrict teaching on race, gender, and LGBTQ issues, as well as limit political speech. The ACLU is fighting back.

USNWR and other ranking entities must begin to consider academic freedom in their rankings. Any university that does not allow the history of racism, for instance, to be taught is just not very good.

California has many problems, and I love my job because I get to help train smart, passionate young people to address those problems.

But in the meantime, California is still pretty great.

I think it’s just objectively true that Trump has been a complete disaster for the US along many dimensions.

What is amazing is that some people on the right have been so brainwashed by right wing media they think he’s doing a great job. I just simply don’t get it.

When DOGE Unleashed ChatGPT on the Humanities

Just an astounding amount of reckless damage to historical scholarship thanks to DOGE's reliance on ChatGPT.

This makes no sense and it is disgraceful and incomprehensible that this is the president of the United States, with lethal force at his disposal, communicating in wartime.

It’s hackneyed now but it should never be: don’t normalize this.

We can throw another $500,000,000,000 at the Pentagon this year and spend $1,000,000,000/day on a wholly useless war, but we can't afford to hire doctors and nurses to take care of our veterans? The United States is such an irresponsible, messed up country right now.

Having recently moved back to CA I am struck by variation in regional communication styles. I am from the Northeast where we value directness and honesty. Very different elsewhere.

Academia draws people from all over the US and these differing styles are underappreciated as a source of conflict.
