Scoop: DHS ousted multiple privacy officers at CBP after they questioned orders to purposely mislabel records about government surveillance to prevent their release under FOIA.
Grammarly declined my request to interview CEO Shishir Mehrotra today. But it told me that in response to criticisms, it will allow experts to opt out of the feature by emailing expertoptout@superhuman.com. The company gave me this statement over email: Weβve heard the feedback about this tool and appreciate the engagement from those who have taken the time to raise thoughtful questions about the functionality and the experts surfaced. We agree that the product experience can be improved for both users and experts. The agent was designed to help users discover influential perspectives and scholarship that add value to their work. We want the people behind those perspectives to have greater control over whether their name is used, while providing new ways for influential voices to reach new audiences. Our goal is to improve Expert Review to deliver this outcome.
NEWS: Grammarly tells me it will let "experts" like me opt out of having their names used against their will and for no compensation as part of its "expert review" feature www.platformer.news/grammarly-ex...
24 hours later -- not a peep out of any House Republican leaders or any Republicans in Congress or the Tennessee GOP at all about this.
I go no responses from anyone I reached out to.
Guess they're all fine with comments like this!
βI used to look somebody in the eyes and say, with good faith, βYou will be fine at the hospital,ββ said Emily Carroll, a nurse practitioner. βBut now, I canβt make that guarantee.β ... via KFF Health News
It's amazing what you find when you actually look at your own data.
RELATED: Heard last week from several people that the feds got a huge shipment of unmarked cars at Whipple, bigger than shipments even at the peak of Metro Surge. What gives? Doubling down? Replacing rentals? Or did someone order a bunch of cars and now they're stuck with them?
"Person familiar," please do explain to the class why ICE "can't" use these vehicles. Somehow the police muddle through having to identify themselves! If their contention is "we only can do our work if we get to be secret police," then they shouldn't exist!
Fair point about money/ads. Personally I don't see what the Lt. Gov. was supposed to really do about fraud, particularly since Walz has been publicly frosty with her for some time. Maybe more activists in a primary are savvy about how that works than in a general, but that might be a lot to ask.
You know this world way more than me but I was surprised Sen. Smith endorsed at all -- that seemed like a big boost for Flanagan as well.
Even as the Minnesota Department of Highways was planning expressways through Minneapolis, most of the people who lived and worked there rode the streetcar, took the bus, or walked. ...
SCOOP β Body camera footage obtained as a result of my lawsuit against the DC Metropolitan PD confirms DOGE and the Trump administration openly admitted they were entering private property when they raided the building on March 17, 2025. That didn't stop MPD from breaking down the doors.
My report:
the Austin mass shooter was a Tesla employee who assaulted a coworker during a company-allowed prayer break late last year
the company refused to give the victim her assailant's name so she could press charges, and he went on to become a mass shooter

Cool cool cool since was he ever supposed to be in?
a lesson to be taken from the Proton email situation is that Swiss law isnβt a get out of jail free card and the Swiss government is a 5 eyes affiliate

I think it means she's just dubbing VHS tapes for each of Trump's planes...
OK this is fun.
Well at least with a name like Markwayne he won't be hard to find in the Epstein files...

Business reporters usually have just one source -- company officials or analysts parroting company officials -- and NEVER talk the consumers for a more informed column. Instead, they belittle what is quite apparently an effective consumer backlash.

What if, and I'm just spitballing here, the reporters had just mentioned that the boycott hadn't come up and maybe even ask them about it? I'm so sick of the paper acting like we're stupid for noticing that they never seem to treat it like it's real.
Wait, I missed that. Crazy!
I have no evidence either way, but the Ramsey County Sheriff sure likes to livestream things like this. Hoping that wasn't why they were trying to get there. Westbound on 94 near 280 is so close to the western edge of Ramsey County, I can't see how he thought he was going to get there in time.
Thoughts & prayers to the EPA :(
No, the crash victims were totally unrelated and miles away from where the traffic stop was initiated, I-94 W and 280.

The airplane flying the University of Wisconsin men's hockey to Penn State right now, N459AW, was used to fly shackled ICE detainees from Michigan to Louisiana on Sunday.
"I fear some [council members] are indifferent." Have you paid someone's rent, organized a fundraiser, gone on patrol, found someone an attorney, done someone's laundry, delivered groceries, held a baby of someone sheltering in fear? "If not you may be too far removed to have good judgment."
A week ago, the ACLU got DHS officials to admit on record that there would be an additional 407 agents throughout March on top of the 150 CBP agents we would normally have here.
The idea that we are down to pre-surge levels is a lie that needs to be corrected for the country. We are still occupied.
