I'm not at #GDC, though I'd have loved to see people's pretty faces. You can find many of my NYC darlings there, however, so say hi if you meet @mjweise.bsky.social, @jesshaskins.bsky.social and any of my amazing colleagues and students from the @nyugamecenter.bsky.social because they're the best.
A seating area with chairs and couches, signs for the New York State Level, and Developed in New York throw pillows
Catching up with friends and talking business ideas for The Game Editors at ESDβs lovely New York games space (at 149 New Montgomery), where the NYU Game Center and a bunch of great NYC devs are set up. I wanna steal one of those pillows. #gdc

That's gorgeous!!!
Finding a decent apartment in the Boston area is a cause for celebration indeed! Congrats! π
Back in the day, hint lines, guide books, and walkthroughs in magazines were part of the process. Sharing information and playing with your friends was a way to bond with others over games. Thinking that the pleasure of playing adventure games is beating them in 4 hours is a bit shortsighted.
Needed a musical pick-me-up this morning on the way to work, and this song somehow came to mind. After listening to it and looking it up, I realized the original composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Me, listening to ALB voluntarily? What is happening?

If you're in SF next week for #GDC go see @toiya.bsky.social @nessathewriter.bsky.social @mjweise.bsky.social @ashleyruhl.bsky.social @asaraviapt.bsky.social and ask them questions to learn the ropes when you start as a game writer.
Our volunteer Hélène Lupa wrote a blog post about the history of NarraScope! Did you know NarraScope started in 2019? And in 2023 there were NarraScope Pogs? narrascope.org/blog/post/20... .
Dear Francisco, We are thrilled to announce that your talk submission has been accepted for NarraScope 2026! Here are the details for your session: Talk Type: Standard Presentation (45 min) Title: Going Union Part 2: How Indies Can Hire Top-Tier Talent And Not Break Their Budget
Excited to announce Iβll be speaking at Narrascope this summer!
A sequel to my 2023 talk, Iβll be explaining the new tiered budget agreements and recounting my experiences with Rosewater and Foolish Mortals.
Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isnβt living in a bubble. I donβt need to know whatβs going on at X. I wonβt be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.
Lovely thread by @grundislav.games talking shop about walking cycles in adventure games.
If youβre new to puzzle games, this is a terrific (and free!) starting point.

A screenshot from Twin Peaks. An FBI agent driving in a car is saying "Diane, 11:30am, February 24th. I'm entering the town of Twin Peaks" into a dictaphone.
Happy 'entering the town of Twin Peaks' day to those that celebrate π₯³

Whaaaaaa'!? Thank you! I guess the news piece was old.
Seems like an obvious idea, but apparently nobody had done it before. Looking forward to playing this game!
Poking @wadjeteyegames.bsky.social because I know the 3rd number has to be The Shivah.
OMG has it been 20 years! π΅
On Saturday at 3 PM ET I'm going to be streaming a game I haven't thoroughly played since the mid-90s -- Cosmology of Kyoto, the early game that blew Roger Ebert's mind with the possibilities of an "open world." Also you can get molten metal poured into your ass and out of your mouth! Be there.

12 years later, some people's understanding of game journalism remains very poor. This is the current generation of people who care about "ethics".

Boston friends! Anna will be talking about game writing next week and you should go see her.
eXistenZ is a movie that anyone working in games should watch. Prescient in a lot of ways, it's also a story about a woman game designer who is getting chased by men who don't like how she designs games. (Yes, really.)
