His whole life, Trump has always had someone else around to bail him out of the messes he creates: his father, Allen Weisselberg, the "adults in the room" in his first term. Now all those protectors are gone and he is openly begging for someone to save him from his own folly.

Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.

I think calling Iran a distraction from the Epstein Files is probably overly simplistic, but I do think Trump mostly viewed it in the context of his ongoing "Great Man Doing Big Things" campaign to fend off accusations that he's a degenerate octogenarian under the hypnotic sway of a sicko vizier.

Pushback is working.

Allow for insiders and outsiders.
Realize that change takes time.
