'This is the worst item I have ever bought from Amazon'
AI grifters are selling fake video game guidebooks, some even masquerading as 'official' releases:

And so we write to brilliant postgraduate students from Sudan, withdrawing the offers and scholarships they won in open competition with the best in the world. A sad day for the University of Oxford.
Great idea! I'll get on this!
She is now sleeping on the cables.
The first sunset of daylight saving time. 6βx6β oil
A fresh new cat bed and toy is ignored by an ungrateful kitten, who has chosen instead to sit in a clearly-uncomfortable alternative location right next to the cat bed
Glad I spent money on a new cat bed and didnβt purchase, say, a cheap washing basket full of old cables
An empty packet of Asda okra describing the vegetable as being βmild and creamyβ
When your AI has never tasted okra
This is why I say jailing Harvey Weinstein sent all of these guys crazy. It set an unacceptable precedent that very rich guys can get sent to jail, because theyβre accused by people who donβt matter.
Like a delightful moon
you see this in media pretty broadly as well
they want to create a giant (badly) automated ouroboros of engagement slop that shits ad engagement money without the need for pesky human labor
whether anything produced is actually useful, ethical, or even seen by a human is a distant afterthought
Tweet from Daniel Pipes: "The uprising in Iran in early January suggested an even greater insurgency would then follow on the U.S.-Israeli campaign to erode regime power. Yet, the populace now appears cowed into near-silence. This ranks as the most surprising and disappointing development of the past week. Without a new uprising, the regime will likely remain in power, less powerful but more awful than ever. (The picture below is from Jan. 10 in Tehran.)"
Amazing how quickly "We're fighting this war for freedom of the Iranian people" becomes "The Iranian people are at fault for not rising up."
Probably not a great thing to joke about in an era when AI is erroneously choosing military targets!
I have a kitten, so that's not dissimilar, it's just that the stakes are different.
I empathise, and I don't have a 10mo, so I can only imagine how much more challenge that introduces
Source: authorizedpope on tumblr - everyone says 'prioritize your health' 'look after yourself' until they realize that making your wellbeing your first priority means making everything else a lower priority. and yeah, that's sometimes ok if it's temporary, but if those health issues are chronic? oh boy do they not like it when you actually take their advice. sometimes prioritizing your health means neglecting your work, your household chores, your social life. 'looking after yourself' means not putting your energy into looking after everyone else first. and the same people who tell you to prioritize your health will get upset with you when they realize it means you're no longer priorizing them. if you have disabled or chronically ill people in your life and you extend them sympathy and tell them to look after themselves when they're feeling sick, but then you get upset at then because they keep canceling plans. please. reevaluate.

An anatomical drawing of a cross-section of a man's head. The eyeball has been replaced by an RSS logo. To the left of the face is a "code waterfall" effect as seen in the credit sequences of the Wachowskis' 'Matrix' movie. To the right are clouds of grey roiling clouds, infiltrating the brain as well.
Never let them tell you that enshittification was a mystery. Enshittification isn't downstream of the "iron laws of economics" or an unrealistic demand by "consumers" to get stuff for free.

can we please just fast forward to the part when this unremarkable bullshitter's company is bought for cheap by Google and he uses the proceeds to spend the rest of his life funding uninteresting startups the access tech press gushes over but never actually amount to anything interesting or useful?
INNOCENT
I'm generally not conservative, but companies need to understand I am not their friend, I am not there for banter, I just want a professional interaction.
In the second half of 2025, one man accounted for almost 40% of all money donated to political parties in the UK: a crypto-billionaire who lives in Thailand.
Britain desperately needs to rewrite its party funding rules.

I kind of think of Australia as having consistently hot weather all year round rather than having ridiculous mid-seasons like we do, where youβre getting 15C during the day and then the ground freezes at night.
It wonβt be a problem in six weeks time when the frosts are past, because then I can move plants outside and the ladybirds will move in and solve the issue. It has been a bad year for aphids in the UK this year though, and a lot of other growers are saying the same.
I am prolific at peppers, squash and cucumbers. I suck at tomatoes, can never get these going. Also had a go at growing mushrooms but that too seemed doomed to failure
I like long-term projects! Also I have no room to really work with, so patience will be a virtue until I get an allotment!
It's often said that when football managers get fired, it's because they lose the dressing room. Igor Tudor at Spurs is set to become the first manager in modern history to get fired without ever having the dressing room in the first place.
Side note, Iβll be using the poblanos to make this:
Oh goodness, I feel your pain. Not many of my citrus plants survived the house move in January, so I'll be starting another lot this spring, but I don't have to worry about grafting as I grow from seed. Whether they'll grow true is another matter, but at least I won't know for a decade.
And yes, I have an aphid problem. Donβt comment, send me bishy-barnabys
