It was an emotional week with the anniversary of my sweet Nathan Edgar’s death. He was more than a cat. He was my child. We had 20 years of shenanigans together. I miss his hilarious personality and sweet face.

The 25th is never happening.
Showed up solo to support the launch of the Georgia chapter of @glma-lgbthealth.bsky.social in Atlanta. Didn’t know a single person in the room, but that didn’t stop me. I listened & learned. Showing up matters, especially in this political climate.

I think the audience matters. If I’m talking to a group/zoom of teens, I will talk differently than I would those in their 20s and 30s. #AYACSM

For people who look like me, it’s never over. The stressors of dealing with microaggressions in EVERY area is beyond exhausting. There is no safe space. I thought the AYA cancer space would be different, but it’s the same. #AYACSM

I’m the only Black director where I work and have had my words sanitized when addressing racism in cancer bcos they’re so worried abt offending people. #AYACSM
The issue with that is people want my experience and expertise for free. No one EVER acknowledges the emotional & mental toll it takes to talk it. I honestly feel let down by the bulk of the #AYAcancer community. I no longer “belong” anywhere since aging out but still young. #AYACSM
