So you either have to be outraged at people getting media copies at all, or wipe your hands of what the reviewer does with that copy after they are finished

I’d ask you a question. Who do you think should pay to return the copy? Smaller publishers don’t have the money, and larger publishers send out hundreds of media copies a year. The reviewer? Now all of a sudden they’re being penalized for reviewing a game.

Afterwards?

Keep it? They have financially benefited because they did not have to purchase the game.

Trade it? They have financially benefited because they didn’t have to purchase whatever it was that they traded for.

Donate it? Whoever receives the copy did not have to purchase that game.

I’m sorry you’re willing to stop reading our content over this. But keep in mind the INSTANT a review copy is provided by a publisher, “money” has changed hands, which happens BEFORE publication.

1. This is good, I’ve never seen this before, thanks for sharing. We’re based in the US so ours might be slightly different.
2. We disclose anytime we receive a review copy. In fact we put it at the top of the article.
