Inspiration often arrives when we least expect it. For ISTA scientist @reenak.bsky.socialβ, it sparked while she and her colleagues captured actin filaments under the microscope. The result is not only a beautiful art piece but also a glimpse into the cellular architecture that shapes life.

Lerche, Mathieu, @johannaivaska.bsky.social @ivaskalab.bsky.social et al. reveal that newly synthesized #integrins can bypass the Golgi to be actively delivered to specific plasma membrane regions, where they enhance cell protrusion and #adhesion. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

Interested in cell migration yet bored of the canonical translocation modes? π΄ Donβt worry β we @nordenlab.bsky.social with @aiopticalbiolab.bsky.social have multipolar migration back in stock! No need to follow the other cells: extend long protrusions and roam more freelyπͺΌ in the crowded brain.

Mitochondria consist of networks of cylindrical tubes, right? Not necessarily! - in our new preprint, @gavsturm.bsky.social investigates how mitochondria transiently adopt a beads-on-a-string morphology

Mix two motors of opposite polarity with microtubules and they will partition space !
Microtubules will get organized in polar and active barriers, sorting the two motors in separated domains, leading to the emergence of a new type of patterns.

Integrins, matrix, motility and mechanotransduction in cancer
Introductory post on π¦! We're a research group headed by Prof. Johanna Ivaska interested in understanding how integrins contribute to every step of cancer progression. We're located at the Turku Bioscience Center in Turku, Finland! Find out more about us and our interests here: ivaskalab.utu.fi

In the aftermath of last weeks disaster I exited social media for a week. Today I came back here to find to my delight that the reassembly of science twitter has dramatically accelerated. Welcome/hello to the nearly 500 people who followed me in the last 6 days-we can make this a place for science!!
