On the left, a woodcut style illustration of a trainyard at night. The quartet flees, carrying their instrument cases onto a freight car on a towering bridge. In the distance, the Black Barn burns. "They fled with their instruments and little else."
On the right: ACT I. THE BAND. In character order, the four doomed heroes of this fated endeavor:
• Cockerel: The one who met the Devil eye to eye. Flashy, charming, arrogant.
• Cat: The one who saw the writing on the wall. Vigilant, patient, shrewd.
• Hound: The one who put the target on our back. Impulsive, eager, passionate.
• Mule: The one who booked our passage out of town. Dry, stubborn, blunt.
the all-new edition of the award-winning game about a band on the run includes:
🚂 stunning interior illustrations by @badbucket.bsky.social
🚂 fresh layout by @rubylavin.bsky.social
🚂 same great dramaturgy and editing by @weaverswork.bsky.social

I'm really honored to be included in this post, and I hope this post can be a jumping off place for other designers to think about operations, machines, and interpretive play. I want to see the games that these ideas grow in others.

Sasha's idea of the game that you operate instead of play has been so integral to my development as a designer. It's really pivotal. You should check read this! It contains an incredibly sweet and sharp write up Of one of my favorite games I've ever written: Hollerith Communications Manual.

Gang I absolutely adore this game, one of the coolest small pagecount games I know, and Weaver's done an awesome job with it. Highly recommend for anyone interested in an incredibly unique two player story

weaver's one of the most thoughtful people i know and just reading his games, let alone playing them, is an act of caring for and challenging yourself to be hopeful and keep moving forward in a culture that feeds on your despair

This is one of the nicest things anybody's ever said about my work. Printing it out and sticking it to my forehead so that no matter how grouchy i get around my work, if nothing else I have one fan because you are among them. < 3

in an age of what feels like perpetual war and infinite cultural replications and homages to it, check out a game that turns a classic war game on its head to invite players to ask thoughtful questions and explore a radical vision of disarmament as not a possibility but an inevitability

The Ship Sinks Here by Weaver Walker
an anti-war sequel to battleship
Picking up The Ship Sinks Here will give you a sneak peak at the kind of things that are coming from me in the next year. It will also help me support myself as a transexual, autistic artist living in DC under occupation. Please check it out. Any reposts or shoutouts really help.

I'm towards a utilitarian and, I hope, more accessible layout style inspired by the history of underground printing and zine culture. And my new game texts are more specifically designed to encourage experimentation, while helping players uphold the spirit of the work.

This new update is really exciting for me for a lot of reasons. For one, its the first time I've published new game content in nearly 3 years and it feels really good to be back in the grove. But also it shows off the direction my art is going to great effect:

Last Train to Bremen is finally live! I got the absolute joy of editing this baby and, in my unbiased opinion, it deserves every dollar y'all can throw at it. It really is special in the way it blends theatre mask work, liars dice, and larp sensibilities. Now is the perfect time to give it a look!

I'm also really proud of my editing on this! Conceptual editing has always been something I've loved, but working on Bremen really pushed me to put all my skills together to meet the text where it needs to be. I love when a text talk back to you, shows you where it needs to go, as this text did.

Editing this game was an absolute joy. Bremen really pushes at the boundaries between TTRPGs and blackbox theatre, between the lines between play and Plays. Caro really created something special with it and I'm so happy to see it getting the attention it deserves.

Working in the style of a-historical reconstruction, I'm hoping to paint the sides and front in the style of a fresco from the cathedral in Prague. I've never seen anything like the monochrome ones and instantly wanted to try my hand at them.
