There's some discussion on this HN thread on the subject. news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4669...
I saw this episode of the X-Files.
The aerospace building at the University of Colorado, in front of Boulders famous flatirons, with a light dusting of snow and a clear blue sky. It's been an extremely dry year so we'll take it!
Bioserve's mission operations center at the University of Colorado. It's a glass-walled room with about a dozen computer workstations. A large monitor on the wall shows live video from the international space station; in this case an astronaut is working on a biology experiment in the station's glovebox. Seated at the workstations are members of Bioserve's operations team including several students. They are speaking directly with the astronaut, leading them through the steps needed to perform the biology experiment underway on the ISS.
Snowy morning ISS ops at the mothership
A toddler on a balance bike at the top of a small hill. Large dirt bike jumps tower over him. He’s little.
Dream big.
I’d drop a thing in there but it would become a Hole Thing.
I have a nice bottle on hand for when It Happens
Screen grab from some degenerates cell phone video. It shows a red Honda with what appears to be a very good dog in the back passenger window.
Lil buddy :(
Wait, was there a dog in the back of the car?
Zee the dog, curled up on a blue sofa with a batteries wool blanked over the back. She is a black wiry haired dog with white boots and a glorious beard. She is 12 and naps most of the time these days.
Shaping up to be a good one.
We have to impeach him.
Oof, sorry to hear. Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Top down view of a blanket on rocky terrain, with a baby on the blanket. There is a dirty diaper, wipes, and soiled clothes in view, and the lower half of the photographer with a harness and climbing gear and wearing Dad Crocs.
Heard about the “blowout party at the crag” and, well, here we are.
Onionati’d. Happy to support!
A mittened right hand holding a Kestrel anemometer showing a wind chill of -6.9° Fahrenheit. Nice. In the background is a snowy scene.
A snow drift covers a road, with trees in the distance. Tire marks end in the drift, the driver not wanting to push their luck getting stuck in it.
Dave's truck, covered in snow. It's a good truck. Winch line is hanging out the front like a little tongue sticking out.
Dave's truck at Yankee Doodle Lake. There are fresh truck tracks in the snow, including where they end and the truck clearly turned around noping out of there.
Made it as far as Yankee Doodle Lake yesterday, I bet this weekend's storm will close out the road altogether. Heckin' wimdy up there.
This is old but still well worth a watch!

A toddlers arm and hand pulling a toy train on wooden tracks through a tunnel. More track pieces and toys are visible on the rug around them.
How to drag your train in
We got a 2023 GX 460 as a family car instead of the sexy new 550 in part because of the V8. Vroom.
A trailer with a portable radar speed sign with two traffic cones in front of it. It’s showing a low battery indicator in the lower right corner.
The portable radar speed sign in my neighborhood ran out of battery. 🪫
The grant Teton is higher than 3,700’ 🤦
Image of an instax Polaroid frame of a family of four hiking, with two kids attached to parents. The background is the area of the hike itself, with trees and rocks and blue sky. The silhouette of the mom is just visible above the Polaroid.
Great Rocky Mountain fall weather today.
Like going on a truck forum and seeing folks with lift kits and big tires ask how to get better mileage.

We just welcomed our second kid and I really miss Younglings 😢 any chance it comes back?
But seriously, dig this caterpillar.
A screenshot of a google search for “largest caterpillars” with an AI overview summary explaining the larval stage of a moth. Beneath the text is a video purporting to show the larval caterpillar but is showing a Caterpillar D11 bulldozer.
The one I found looks just like the video.
“Variometer, which *is* a …”
Great reporting!
Looking up two strands of rope against a granite rock wall. There are clouds in the sky and obvious rain falling. 🧗
Looking upstream in the S. St. Vrain Canyon. The creek is visible, along with a bit of road. There are trees in the foregraound, and lots of rain drops visible in the frame.
Rappelling in the rain after climbing in the Vrain.
My 27 month-old fits in 2T okay, but not in 24mo. They’re intentionally messing with us.
