Not once did Clare Winger Harris's name come up during my research on the history of cyberpunk. She released "The Artificial Man" in 1929 --a story exploring cybernetic augmentation...in 1929?! :D This is 11 years before Asimov's robot series π€― www.storiesofwonder.com/products/the...
*The shop doesn't get any money for this one, Mindy just really loved it & wants you to go if you're available. Maybe I'll geek out about it more later & share pictures from last year at some point.
Soo...last year I went to this book fair where the cheapest thing I saw was over $200 --and it was an original Moebius work! The guy who allegedly inspired Ridley Scott & William Gibson's own cyberpunk worlds. Absolutely worth traveling to the NYC Antiquarian Book Fair: www.nyantiquarianbookfair.com
A major fantasy release this week is not for the faint of heart: The Poet Empress by Shen Tao. This beautiful but horrific dark fantasy breaks many rags to riches tropes while demonstrating several believable terrors of oppression. *Not for younger audiences. www.storiesofwonder.com/products/the...

P.S. The bunny is staying around. Name changes and logos will be getting updated through the next month.
Thank you for your early support as I near the approach of completing the business plan. Looking forward to the stories of us as the journey continues!
Between dropping food & finding a way to describe these genres together, the new store name will be, "Stories of Wonder." You may see it branded "Stories of Wonder Coffeehouse" or "Stories of Wonder Coffee & Books" or the like as I figure out a prefix that rolls of the tongue.
I have been calling these genres together, "Stories of Wonder." I have a lot of positive feedback and some straight up requests to adopt this as the store name.
Heyaaa! Update incoming finally :D
I am dropping food from the store menu. In result, "Basil & Books" no longer feels right. The coffee bar is still in the works with the bookshop specializing in scifi/fantasty/folklore/weird fiction/etc.
