Almost forgot how nice the purple mountains are! Time to leave the cities and get to fleshing out some of the other maps again.

A snip of game screen displaying the words Select Target (A) Move (B) Cancel where (A) and (B) are colored icons matching the A and B buttons on an Xbox controller.
fixing up the gamepad controls today after breaking them in a few areas. since i have sprite sheets for icons now...
today in have a complain about things, every synth/drum-machine/whatever out there with a sequencer needs a knob i can turn to rotate the sequence. a hotkey. idc how awkward just give me one please thankyou.
dedicated to the rad sequence i just recorded that is half a bar out.
something very graph-paper about this that i like
making a "hound" enemy type which alerts others to your presence. #7drl
Lighting up my #Crocotile3D scene from earlier. Spooky!

yeah i agree with you on this. occasionally i get asked if it is running in a terminal / would run in a terminal and the answer so far has been "i could do that" but i think it would be mainly a curiosity and a better ux is far more valuable.
a little text menu demonstrating some icons for "deck of cards", "discard/trash", and "exhausted cards"
toying around with more icons for things like "deck / discard / exhaust" piles. i'm considering having a pure ascii mode, and an "extended" type mode but not sure if there's actually much care about a pure version?
damn i'd love to be free to do a 7DRL. Once Grist is released hopefully I'll have some time to clean up the engine and get it in a useable state for future random projects.
it's raining in the megacities

in case anyone needs art for #7drl, my ongoing fantasy art pack, phosphor, is free to use. please let me know if you would like anything added! i can patch it in in the coming days.

very familiar with it thanks. in no way negates what i said above, so not sure what your point is other than "so you hate waffles?"
a character sheet from an ascii RPG, showing a "Fencer" class character, with their stats and other details like equipment proficiencies and so on.
i'm pushing a beta tonight to testers for the first time in months and it's a nice change of pace to be going back and fixing up a bunch of front-end stuff that i've been ignoring while working on run progression
Idk from vantage point in Australia, a lot of US media companies actually don't seem to give a shit about operating here, thankfully!
"Why do you hate Metacritic". I hate it when people try to use numbers to represent things that are not numbers. It offends me as a math person. We invented all these fancy ass representational structures. We have groups and fields and lattices. And you look at "Nier". And you say "this is a 7".
If you, like me, are scared of Qud, I strongly recommend these mutations for your first character:
Carapace: high armor value, built-in cold and heat resistance, can ignore main armor slot
Wings: can move quickly, can run away and escape, can avoid melee, won't get lost
Night Vision: no torches!
the only acceptable use for a computer
Try turning off "Auto Wall Recovery" in the camera settings. Not sure it will fix your exact problem but may help.
a hex map made out of ascii characters. i shows a city. some tiles are overlaid with purple rain using slash characters.
i like my little rain tiles
it looks really nice
i'm honestly amazed that the desktop i built in 2012 is still keeping up. had a psu failure that killed the original gpu and ssd, and a failed stick of ram but who needs 32gb really. it compiles assets slower than my windows surface but it runs any new games that i've wanted to play so far.
it's fine, you just have to devote an inordinate amount of your brain to remembering where every file you've ever created in the last 25 years is and what it contains.
given the rest of the stuff my brain decides to hold on to it's probably not the worst use.
The 30 seconds it takes Grist to compile is just long enough to work out who is selling Curtis CEM 3340 chips, throw 10 of them in a cart and start daydreaming about a voice-per-finger ribbon controlled synthesizer.
A merry night in the tavern.
This is one of the biggest pieces I've drawn.
wait until you put your eyes on
the mirepoixty
reads: Choose an action... Krysten playing Parry 1* * Stance. Deflects all attacks for 1 round. Parry will take effect immediately. Confirm? Krysten is waterproof! Parry is removed. Krysten is already in a defensive stance! Choose an action...
weird bug.
to paraphrase the hermetics:
"for above, read below"
Some text reading "Round Complete" with a square cursor at the end of the text.
it's just occured to me that because of the way i manage text in the game log, if i want the cursor to park at the end of the line like in the above image, "WriteLine" should have the CR/LF at the beginning of the line. Which is plain weird.
The alternative is faking it, so uhh idk.
There are so many great underground, creative, independant games coming out, we've started a new show which distills all of the ones we played into a month down to the ones we think everyone should check out. Expect it every month on noclip_2
