Fortunately, the locally operated inland ferry got us over there in time to meet up with Johon and for us to make our meetings.
Getting back was tough too. Planes still werenβt flying, so we caught a water taxi back to Ketchikan - just in time for radio and newspaper interviews. Love Southeast!

In Southeast any given day the weather can change on you. We left Klawock yesterday as it snowed and with the moon still in sight. Bags got left in Klawock, but we were bound to get to our plane to Metlakatla. Icing had covered the wings of the float planes and it looked like we might not make it.

This weekend, I stopped by Anchorage Bridge Builders to celebrate the multicultural beauty of our city.
From the bagpipes on stage to conversations at the Thai and Japanese booths, it was a great reminder of what makes our city so strong and vibrant. #AlaskaSky

Lawmakers question Alaskaβs decision to turn over confidential voter data to DOJ
Lawmakers in the predominantly Democratic bipartisan House majority said they were concerned the state didn't push back
I called for an investigation the day we found out about this in mid February.
I appreciate the Legislature moving forward on this. Alaskaβs voter files are Alaskaβs business - not Washingtonβs.

Playing guitar with students in Bethel last week reminded me why I love this state. Alaska is creative, resilient, and full of heart.
Music has always been part of my life, and it was a joy to share songs and stories with these students and to hear theirs. #AlaskaSky

I come from a family of educators and I've seen firsthand what instability does to classrooms, teachers, parents and our future workforce.
Right now, schools can't plan and teachers can't stay. Alaskan families need more stability than this in their education systems. #AlaskaSky

In my State of the Future in January, I laid out a plan for a forward-funding constitutional amendment to bring stability, restoring a defined benefit retirement so experienced educators can build lives here, investing in safe, habitable school buildings, and expanding voluntary Pre-K statewide.

Opinion: We were honored as Alaska Teachers of the Year. Now we can no longer stay.
A broken retirement system, relentless vetoes and anti-public education rhetoric have pushed even the stateβs most accomplished educators to walk away.
Alaska's 2018 + 2024 Teachers of the Year are leaving. That should worry all of us.
They say Alaska is no longer a great place to teach. Instability and eroding support are driving educators away.
We need forward-funded, fully funded schools so districts can actually plan ahead. #AlaskaSky

When we work side by side with fellow Alaskans and focus on the work, even when we disagree, we get things done.
That is how we lower energy costs, strengthen schools, and rebuild trust in government. We need leaders who put results above politics.

Iβm really encouraged by the polling numbers over the last few months β and again just last week.
But this election will come down to one simple thing: who shows up.
If we stick together and show up to vote, in the primary and in November, we can change the direction of Alaska.

β’Ramp up coordination + resources in cases involving missing, exploited, and murdered Indigenous women

In Alaska, these problems are real and ongoing. Indigenous women face disproportionate violence, missing persons cases remain unresolved, homeless youth and families are vulnerable, and loopholes like child marriage create pathways predators exploit.
There are concrete steps a Governor can take:
