Iβve had that as a response from senior GIC staff on multiple occasions and multiple clinics now

I think heβs the type of guy who has kids because itβs the done thing and helps his political career and social status and not because he actually wants or even likes kids.
Theyβd argue (and have, repeatedly, historically) that itβs fine because they will offer replacement sex hormonesβ¦. Theyβll just be the ones for you agab, they do it to trans prisoners all the time
oh this is why they use the phrasing 'cross-sex hormones' even tho that isn't a medical or scientific term.
Yeah, at least they wonβt pretend to care about us while reversing the bus back over us to throw us under it again!
I prefer my hatred to be overt rather than it being couched in the language of βdignity and respectβ at this point
Yeah Iβm the same.
Thereβs a risk itβll end up with a (red)Tory/reform coalition but itβs also the only way thereβll be any chance of getting a government that includes the greens.
That was a by-election for just one seat unfortunately.
Itβs very unlikely that the greens would actually win a general election rn, theyβd get more seats for sure but probably not an overall win baring a massive political upset.
Sex or gender information In the UK, sex and gender data can cover three categories: Biological sex. Legal or certified sex. This is sex as recorded on your original birth certificate or as amended under the Gender Recognition Act 2004. In almost all cases, legal or certified sex reflects a personβs biological sex. Gender. A broad term that is sometimes used interchangeably with sex or when specifically referring to social rather than biological differences between sexes. It can also capture data that equates to biological, legal or certified sex. Information about sex and gender is not necessary for the intended purpose of the digital ID. Inclusion of this information would not enhance checks that the digital ID belongs to the person presenting it. Checks will be done programmatically and through biometric authentication, neither of which require specific sex or gender data. Additionally, digital right to work checks and many checks in the private sector (including Know Your Customer (KYC) and simple age verification checks) do not require the collection or sharing of information about a personβs sex or gender. Similarly, access to most public services does not require this information. In specific scenarios where sex or gender information is required, it is better collected and verified by other means appropriate to that scenario, rather than contained in the digital ID. For these reasons, and in line with data minimisation principles, we do not intend to include sex or gender information in the digital ID.
The UK government's consultation on a digital ID system is now live! And β GOOD NEWS β the government does not intend to include sex or gender information in the digital ID.
"Information about sex and gender is not necessary for the intended purpose of the digital ID."

An effective ban before the end of the year is highly likely. They won't call it a ban. They'll limit private prescribing by citing safety concerns and then rely on the 25 year waitlists for adult care to effectively make formal access impossible. It'll make legal challenges harder.
I'm sad. There will never be nice things.
We are cooked.
Why is this a *public* consultation - the public arenβt experts in our healthcare so they shouldnβt have a say (and neither are Cass, Levy, or Streeting)
Whatβs next? A public consultation on abortion?
Think part of this is understanding the difference between "not passing" & "not always fitting societal beauty standards" - bc these are separate things often conflated!
Particularly bc "not always meeting beauty standards" is actually an experience that connects the vast majority of women!
Jolyon Maugham KC @jolyon.goodlawproject.org The NHS has now stopped all medication - puberty blockers and hormones - for trans minors. For most, unless they get drugs from other sources, this means a lifetime, in an increasingly violent and transphobic society, unable to pass. Under Wes Streeting NHS policy is harm and death for trans people. Jolyon Maugham KC @jolyon.goodlawpro... β’ 16h Tomorrow Wes Streeting will remove trans minors ability to access, and doctors to prescribe, cross-sex hormones. Try as it might Labour will never eradicate trans people. They cannot, and should not, change who they are. All Labour will do is make trans lives harder - with more harm and more death.
Jolyon is literally doing the lords work with GLP so this isnβt a call out of him at all as in individual.
I really should say, Iβm not keen on this messaging
1. Itβs not true that βmostβ trans people donβt pass if they do so over 18, in fact it couldnβt be further from it
The news about the banning of prescribing puberty blockers and cross sex hormones to under 18s is bad, but I just want to say that transitioning post-puberty does not doom you to never pass (if thatβs what you want to do). It is absolutely untrue that βyou can always tell.β
Itβs not *super* uncommon (depending what type of consultation it is)
But itβs almost always not really a βconsultationβ just a way of proving that whatever your pre-determined outcome is actually what the consultation wants too to govern you a talking point for the media.
This is one of those headlines that hits very differently when you are a member of a community that both the Guardian and the BBC constantly lie about
Iran, if youβre listening, youβve got the chance to do the funniest thingβ¦β¦
I'm not saying you're wrong to not want to scare your suburban mum audience, but sooner or later, we do actually have to reckon with the cops in lab coats asking trans adults and minors alike about our masturbation habits to make sure we're Good Suffering Transes and not fetishists creeps like them.
Was it the Swedes and the Dutch who paid reparations to trans people for what the state put them though a few years back? It was European countries anyway
Iβm hoping for that too, although tbh I donβt know of any amount of money can fix being on an endless waitlist
Iβve been seeing people refer to the need to DIY hrt as a βriskβ and I just feel like weβre overstating the safety provide by transitioning with a doctor supervising. Like at least when I was diying, my doctor didnβt ignore my non transsexual health concerns in favor of negging me for my levels
every endocrinologist I've ever seen for HRT has tried to enforce an arbitrary maximum hormone level based on health risks associated with archaic forms of HRT that haven't been prescribed in years but not a single one has been concerned about minimum levels for my health, much less my transition
"On the day I visited, men were waiting outside two GP surgery rooms to get blood tests done, with the promise of a consultation to discuss the results two weeks later."
Everyone - gym rats, recreation drugs users - gets blood tests from their GP. Everyone, except trans people.
The way the framing so seamlessly became "Iran attacked" shouldn't really be surprising, given how long we've been watching Netanyahu's genocide of Palestinians framed as liberating children or whatever bullshit was the flavour of the day.
That didn't take long. It's been what, an hour since Starmer announced the UK was getting involved?
People really struggling with the idea that the Iranian government sucks but we shouldn't be bombing them can both be true, eh?
Today has pretty much confirmed the North Korea argument of why you need nukes.
Every single person involved in bombing a girl's school in Iran, killing 51 and wounding even more, would tell you, if asked, they are protectors of women and girls.
Evey single one of them.
Death toll from elementary school attack in Iran rises to 85: Report The number of people killed in a strike at an elementary girlsβ school in Minab, in the southern province of Hormozgan, has now risen to 85, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. The number could not be immediately verified.

@cathynewman X.com BREAKING on @TimesRadio: we've unearthed social media posts by a senior officer at the MHRA, the regulator overseeing the puberty blockers trial. Posts expressing gender critical views and mocking trans supporters appeared on the X account of Prof Jacob George, MHRA's chief medical and scientific officer, who was only appointed last month. His account has now been deleted and the MHRA told us the Prof had been recused from the trial. Stay tuned...
The MHRA's chief medical officer, Jacob George, is a transphobe.
Their claims of impartiality were bullshit.
Delays in the puberty blockers trial were done with FULL INTENT.
We are hated and mocked by the people who have control over our freedoms.
There is no reforming this.
