My dad was career military. I don't remember a time when my mom didn't work full time. My grandparents (both sides), both my grandmother and grandfather worked. One grandmother worked at the HP factory and the other was a nurse.

People have a skewed version of reality..

I knew you guys wouldn't let me down. I just saw this bullshit tonight and came running to see what you'd said. Thanks for the laugh.

I think we are done adding new stuff for the moment! I want to say that though I am leaning into the joy & hilarity of how Gunther Couldn't Organize Brunch, the process of putting together these lists is occasionally heartbreaking. Because they are trying to solve horrifying problems.

For 20 yrs + the US has decided that it's ok for kids to die in schools from gun violence as long as every person has a right to bear whatever arms they want.

Today the administration blamed Alex Pretti's death on the fact that he shouldn't have had his (legal) gun on his person. #disgusted

I can't answer this, but I can tell you that the national guard is here in NOLA right now due to helping secure the city during Mardi Gras and these are not the kind of vehicles they are driving. Last year there was an attack at New Years and the city has been vigilant since.

Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics

I saw a headline from them today and thought maybe I'd been transported back 10-15 years. I had to double check to be sure it was actually the NYT

over in r/conservative on Reddit, where they justify everything this administration does, they are even conceding that ICE/CBP has crossed the line.

To those blaming Walz for not mobilizing the Guard, he did that six days ago. I have to say it's disturbing to see people angry at Walz instead of the government agents that just executed a man. As though we should all be experts about what to do when a secret police force invades an American city.

My heart hurts. It's broken for Alex and Renee. For the kids. For the communities being terrorized.

But mostly, I'm broken that the republicans in congress have not stopped this. They could end it today if they wanted to. They haven't which means they don't want to. Cowards.

And now comes the most nauseating part of this whole goddamn mess: the hypocrisy. The same loud-mouthed idiots who spent years screaming about tyranny are suddenly dead fucking silent, or worse, cheering, now that it's their side doing it. "ThEy'Re cOminG fOr OuR gUnS!" "GoVerNMenT oVerReAch!" "ShAll nOt bE inFrinGeD!" All that chest-thumping bullshit evaporated the second armed federal agents started terrorizing people they don't like.
Let me get this straight: a civilian gets shot dead by federal agents, and the only thing you brainless cunts can muster is
"well, DHS says he had a gun"? THAT'S your red line? Guns are sacred when they're strapped to your waist, but magically become a death sentence when they're used as a post-hoc excuse by the government? Either the Second Amendment applies to everyone, or you never believed in it at all. Fucking pick one and own it.
This is exactly what tyranny looks like, by the way. Not jackboots marching in formation, but armed agents roaming neighborhoods, stopping people, killing civilians, and then daring the public to question it. Tyranny is execution followed by a press release. Tyranny is labeling the dead a "threat" so the state doesn't have to explain why someone's life just ended in the street. Tyranny is demanding obedience while shredding due process and calling it order.
And all you so-called "freedom lovers" are fucking fine with it, as long as it's brown people, immigrants, protesters, or anyone you've already dehumanized. Turns out "don't tread on me" actually meant "tread on them." You weren't afraid of tyranny.
You were afraid of losing dominance. There's a difference, and this moment exposes it completely.
"Just comply" isn't a principle. It's cowardice dressed up as common sense. It's the language of people who have already accepted that the state gets to decide who deserves rights and who doesn't. And once you make that deal, don't act shocked when the line moves, because it always fuckin…

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

White. Hot. Rage.

I get about 2-3 emails a day sent through my contact form that are clearly AI generated. 1) I don't want to talk to random strangers about my book/writing/publishing/

2) If you are a book club, go buy the book or get it at a library. I'm not paying you and I'm not giving out 30-50 books.

I fully believe that the felon will try to have the files scrubbed, or they will claim a majority of the files can't be released due to active investigations. That said, it also feels like the floodgates are being breached, so who the eff knows what's next?

If the lawsuit is certified, I'm looking at a substantial payout for which I am extremely grateful. The point of this thread? File your copyrights. You never know when you're gonna need it. 4/4

Or... you could find yourself included in a class action lawsuit that requires a copyright certificate to claim damages. Yes, this pertains to the Anthropic lawsuit. Did I have anything at all to do with the lawsuit? No. Am I in the class because I filed copyright on almost all of my books? Yes. 3/4

18.11.2025 21:54 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

You might be asking yourself if you ever see yourself suing someone over copyright claims. In the US, this is a valid question as it costs a lot of time and money to file a lawsuit. You might not think it's worth the $55 to file with the US copyright office. You could be right. 2/4

PSA to authors regarding copyright filing:

While it is true that once you publish your work, that work is automatically copyright protected. However, in the US you cannot collect certain damages unless you have registered your work with the copyright office. 1/4
