I have known Jonathan for over 3 years. He is a cancer survivor, his dad died in his first year of medical school, he has continued through great adversity and I swear he will make to this Urology residency even if I have to drive a damned U-Haul across the USA. Please support his journey.

A black-and-white montage portrait of pioneering American virologist Charlotte Friend (1921–1987), who discovered the Friend leukemia virus and advanced understanding of retroviruses and cancer. The main image shows her in her laboratory, seated at a compound microscope in a research setting lined with shelves of scientific books and journals. She is a middle-aged woman with short, neatly styled dark hair, wearing round-framed eyeglasses, a pearl necklace, and a white lab coat over a patterned blouse with a floral collar. She smiles warmly and confidently at the camera, one hand resting near the microscope's stage, conveying dedication, intelligence, and approachability. In the lower right corner is a smaller inset close-up portrait of a younger Charlotte Friend, smiling brightly with softer features, short wavy hair, and a simple white blouse, highlighting her earlier career. The composition blends her professional lab environment with a personal archival photo, celebrating her groundbreaking contributions to virology, leukemia research, and women's roles in science during the mid-20th century. The overall mood is one of scholarly achievement, warmth, and historical significance.

Virologist Charlotte Friend (b. #OTD in 1921) proved viruses could cause cancer (1957) & revolutionized virology (& helped define modern retrovirology).

She later pioneered differentiation therapy, showing cancer cells could be "reverted" to health, defining a new path to treat cancer. #WomenInSTEM

Markwayne Mullin loves to hype his MMA past in speeches and interviews to project toughness and resilience.

Reality: he fought in small regional amateur bouts. He had 3 documented fights in Oklahoma 2006–2007.

Record:
β€’ 2 wins by submission
β€’ 1 loss by decision

He never fought professionally.

I’m guessing that one would have to be extra careful not to smoke out the van with this thing that basically only fits wood chips. It’s damn cute though.

I’d almost buy this van just for the cute mini wood stove! This can’t be all that safe.

I used to teach at a store front school where most of our students were impoverished. I learned a lot from them. They knew where the deals were and how to stretch a dollar.
Instead of shaming people, it is smart to provide all students with education on money related matters. We all can benefit.

Man, I dunno. Easy to joke about this, how old we all are, etc. But I don't think it's just that, it feels like the mechanisms of transmitting cultural memory to younger generations are just totally broken???

I don't like it

Tonight I am taking the leftover squash, carrots, potatoes and onions and turning it into soup. Immersion blender works so nice to make this into a purΓ©e. There will be soup for when I return back here and am too beat to cook. Soup cubes are so handy.
