Co-op is just as fun and satisfying as I'd hoped it would be. Even managed to (with only 6 HP to spare) pull off a complete run in a full group of four on our first attempt. Good times! πŸ™‚πŸ‘

The Nod/Wells Timelines is one of the standout speculative-fiction reading experiences of the modern era, with nine novel-length books spanning sci-fi, horror, and thrillers of all sorts in an unprecedented manner.

UPDATE: My first run was tanked by an insane boss at the end of act three, so business as usual. 🀣 Still, I had a fun time, and the game definitely felt a bit more nuanced and sophisticated than its predecessor in terms of mechanics and possible strategies based on that experience. πŸ‘ Next up, co-op!

A screenshot from my first run in the initial Early Access build of "Slay the Spire 2"

The first Early Access build of "Slay the Spire 2" is looking good so far. My mid-run initial impression after two acts is that it's a solid improvement over the original but I need to see more. πŸ€”

Along those lines: Would any of you be interested in watching me stream a bit of it this weekend?

To the people still at Apple pushing back against all the AI/LLM garbage and trying to focus on the things that matter (optimizations, bug fixes, sane/incremental improvements and refinements,) thank you! Hang in there. That fake-ass bubble is going to pop and you will be heroes.

Starting to get a better feel for how this year is likely to play out musically and it seems the transition toward singles and EPs has just about finished. Wondering if we'll ever see great albums like those of 2024 again. Still, lots to like here:

This got me pondering what my career trajectory would have been if any of the stories I submitted to science-fiction magazines back in the 90s had been accepted. Honestly not sure if that would have been a good thing or a bad thing as so much of my life would have likely been very different. πŸ€”

Subscription services are great for discovery and giving new things a try but when it comes to the media I really love and connect with, I always make an effort to permanently acquire them, which is, happily, almost always the best way to financially support their creators. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

I sometimes enjoy browsing the feeds of gentlemen who I feel embody the "big man" aesthetic as defined in the tales of The Nod/Wells Timelines. Not that I believe Dr. Newman here is intentionally attempting to do so, but I've always thought he'd make a fine "Mr. Perkins." πŸ‘

Been chipping away at "Slay the Spire." After about a dozen runs, I've made it to the end of The Beyond several times but have yet to clear any of the bosses there, who all seem to be colossal jerks from what I've seen. 🀣 Still having fun but all those fights were ridiculous. πŸ€ͺ

It may seem like a small thing but Goodreads now forcing a login to see shelves and (most importantly) individual reviews is going to cost them mindshare in a big way over time, and open the door for other platforms like The Book Radar and StoryGraph that don't. πŸ€”
