John is technically my name

I'm here because it's not formerly known as Twitter. I have a collection of nerdy interests, chief among them at the moment would be board games. I suppose one could call me a geekly. Used to podcast, would be down to again under the right circumstances.

there was also a Stanford study that found that a surge in AI slop by lazy people actually created significantly more work for others who had to decipher and correct it

this "I'm being efficient" (but not really) vibes well with the American obsession with artifice and appearing productive

Jim Cramer suggests on CNBC that Trump could β€œbomb Tehran into the Stone Age” until Iran reopens the strait, citing U.S. bombings of North Vietnam in the 1970s. Carl Quintanilla points out to him that Hanoi won that war.

Long-time buddies Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were out for a pleasant van drive in Oklahoma when, all of a sudden, their lives would change.

β€œSocial murder” is a term created by Friedrich Engels to describe the premature death of marginalized people due to political, social, or economic oppression.

What is happening right now in America is the premeditated, calculated, & planned extermination of children who are trans. This is genocide.

Thinking about my wrestling fandom on the whole and if AEW's ppv price came down I suspect I'd keep up with those. I know I don't have it in me to keep up with any weekly wrestling show at this point, have considered going the marvel unlimited route and being 6 months back on Max.

leaders like trump are why sun tzu had to write a bunch of advice like "don't write your enemy a letter detailing what tactics you really don't want them to do"

Just walked by a Waymo that is blocking at least 10 cars from leaving a parking garage (took this after I crossed the street) in downtown LA.

It’s parked directly in front of the garage exit. No one has any ability to move it. So an entire parking garage is getting backed by an empty car

I can’t believe this needs to be said but a willingness to sacrifice any principle including opposition to fascism in order to win an election is in fact as bad as being an open fascist

I honestly hope proponents of AI keep fuckin proponing it. I think a huge reason why it's so unpopular is because every person who likes it is either the most racist burnout from your highschool or your boss who sold his mortal soul for 150k/yr

Mamdani Chooses His Words Carefully After Alleged Terror Attack

One day the NYT's editors will read these stories again and be ashamed of themselves. Mamdani called the attack "heinous," "criminal," "reprehensible," "terrorism," and "the antithesis of who we are." The insinuation that he's conflicted about this is disgraceful. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...

let's see if I've got this straight

the war is over, pretty much

except if we want to bomb iran some more, or israel does

or if iran decides to keep the strait closed

also the regime didn't change and we didn't accomplish anything but blowing up a bunch of kids and poisoning tehran

ok good work

Trump says he won’t sign any other bills until the SAVE Act is passed, which requires voters to show proof of citizenship with expensive documents like passports.

Reminder: noncitizen voting is already illegal and incredibly rare. This is about voter suppression, plain and simple.

My path was odd, because although I was raised Baptist, I never took it seriously (though adult me did have to work through some weird/puritanical attitudes towards sexuality). I remember being 12 and thinking that if Sunday school didn't have donuts and hot cocoa, I would've found a way to not go.

I think part of the problem here is that it's really easy to twist the idea that the rich need to pay their fair share into only the rich should be paying. I think I should pay taxes, but I do also think that people who have more should pay more.

You average normie Democrat in 2026 loves AOC, wants to abolish ICE, and thinks Israel shouldn’t get another penny from us.

It’s laughable how out of touch centrist consultants and politicians are.

How Pixar’s Open Sexism Ruined My Dream Job (Guest Column) A former Pixar employee writes that after John Lasseter's departure, the company still has a lot of work to do to fix its sexist culture.

If you're wondering how bad things were at Pixar for women, the answer is pretty horrifyingly bad.

Make any comment about the evil of AI on the internet and you inevitably get these people saying, "Ah, but you can't halt progress." You know what else people thought was progress not long after it was invented? Asbestos.

Thing that really gets my goat is the way people are eager to fund this bullshit but you need eleven layers of analysis and a ton of collateral if you want to open a small grocery store in a food desert.
