Ngl, I did not like this book as much as The Martian, but I'm looking forward to the movie. I had a hard time accepting the premise. The movie looks like it will be a lot of fun, and I'm willing to suspend disbelief for a spectacle.

Bought a half loaf of sourdough bread at Wegmans and have already eaten five pieces, including two that I ate *for dessert*

I enter a state of mind: travel zone. It is when I am at my most zen. I notice that I am anxious, with zero control, so whatever happens washes over me. I need to be in that place more often, I am suddenly realizing.

I had forgotten how much the continuity (or lack thereof) in the Minas Tirith scenes of RotK bothered me. I guess it's better than shooting everything in the dark, though.

Pro tip: if your family takes a cruise and you don't go because seasickness and not actually liking cruises too much, you can totally make a plate full of hash browns at 3:00 p.m., pull up LOTR, and call it dinner.

Sigh. I would probably watch. But I have many thoughts on the problematic nature of the show, the language, the lost cause, the actors/creatives who were/are not great. Even Fillion is a question mark in my mind now. Do I want to know what happens to Zoe, River, Inara--yes.

If it means more cat content, I too would like to complain about the cat content.

Another day where I have to get up, feed cats, and wonder if the east coast of the U.S. will survive until the weekend so is it worthwhile to make plans or should I crawl back into bed, call in sick, and read escapist fiction.

Overheard at the grocery store:

A hurrying dad to a small human (5 or 6 years old?): when someone says "hi" to you, say "hi" back. Otherwise it's mean. You don't want to be mean, do you?

Small human: But I don't like those people.

Reader, I laughed as soon as I got out of the store.

My mother never fed us liver because her father loved it (and calf's brains????) and she would not subject anyone to that. Or the brains. I am grateful, except she did make us eat beets, which I have not ever willingly eaten as an adult, although I like most other vegetables.

I use your giveaways to find books at the library, used book stores, and bookshop.org. Currently reading some M.R. Carey that the local library had from a giveaway a few weeks ago!

Opening excel to do math, as one does, instead of the calculator app. Plus I can see all my numbers in little boxes as I go.
