The Hunt starring Mads Mikkelsen is the best first watch, "old" film that I've seen this year. The idea of group belief without confirmation and the violence that it breeds is terrifying and even though the surface subject might be different, the implications in today's world are massive.

Agreed. I'm willing to say that the first one had a cultural impact because it taught us that people have an appetite for 3 hours animated films and the technological leap was great, but since then? Nah. They're good movies, but not hugely impactful.
